Order arriving Today?

Last February I ordered some hostas from a company that I have done excellent business in the past.

Well, the order did not arrive and I kinda spaced it out but figured that I would call about it in the fall and see what was up. I did get a confirmation of said order, but no money moved. On Thursday I was informed, with a tracking number, that they were to arrive Saturday. Yes today. By 9pm. I live in Florida. It is July. My temperature here is rated at 2 times the temp in hell. This is going, ........ I had to stop here as I do not know how this is going to go. I will let you know "by 9pm tonight". What were they thinking?

Yeah, I ordered from "a company that I have done excellent business in the past", too. They arrived in July after I tried to cancel the order. They were all the wrong hosta; even had someone else's name on the sticks. They were 80% nice specimens, just not hosta I would have chosen. They ended up refunding my money.

It was kind of sad, seeing what a "screw-up" they have become.

It's really hot here, day after day. The last time we went through this was 1980, but doesn't seem quite as bad. But then, we had plenty of electric capacity. That was before we became "deregulated". Now, they are begging people to reduce consumption. They are even asking the electric car owners not to charge their cars. So much for "green energy".....

It is Sunday morning and there has not been one single hosta on my doorstep. And I wait with bated breath. I will have blanched spinach when they arrive.

I hate the wait, but under adverse conditions make it even worse. Although, I've been surprised at how well they looked on more than one occasion.

Getting plants and planting them is a challenge even in my zone at this time of the year. Few companies I order are super fast and then some will take months and unreasonable delivery... I ordered early June, still waiting if I get it by fall it will be great, most of companies like this are small mom and pop biz though...

That is great news! A miracle! The plants are looking so good. What did you get?

They look really good for traveling in this heat. So you're going to plant now? Lots of water in that hole first is what I've learned, at least with my sandy soil that works best.

I am so glad that your plants arrived safely.

Nice haul! I would have expected "blanched spinach", too. Glad it worked out for you.

Wow, they look better than some plants I've received in early spring.

Lucky, lucky so lucky. I believe that it rained every day all the way down the eastern coast that that did help. Ok here is what I ordered:

    Bright Lights

    Night Before Christmas

    Miss Ruby

    Orange Marmalade

    Red October

    Summer Music

    Summer Breeze

    Remember Me

    Serendipity

I have just gotten rained out for the second day in a row. The grass is happy. I will have a lot to do this weekend. I still have to clear a spot in the greenhouse. Thank you everyone for your nice comments. More photos this weekend. Miss Ruby is really cool.
