I was told that the biggest difference is how they load...Asko might not hold huge dinner plates according to an appliance sales guy (european vs american dishes). I have a Bosch 800 and 2 years later my husband still complains how "poorly" it loads the dishes...I don't agree with him.

According to my contractor's contact, who is a regional manager for a large high-end home renovation showroom chain, Bosch can only get all the parts to make the 100 and they don't know when they will be able to start making the other models. I'm currently looking at my options.

Take what you can get, or live with a gap and hand wash. : ) They're both fine.

I have had Bosch DWs in my last 2 homes the one now is 15 yrs old I run a catering biz from my home so sometimes 6-8 loads a day not one service call in 15 yrs so Bosch hands down and honestly I would wait and wash by hand insted of settling for what I did not want.

Something that caught my attention in Asko is that many parts are made of stainless steel. And claims to have taken away the need to rinse before loading.

The Bosch family here - what is your experience on this? Do you give a rinse to your dishes or do the dirty dishes go as are into the WM? Any experience with dried food (coffee / tea cups for ex., that were not rinsed / soaked right away)?

@tcufrog, that is disappointing, not even having a rough estimate of when these appliances are available. I will check with our appliances contact to give us "real" estimate. According to him, "hopefully one more month but cannot say for sure".

According to my contractor’s contact, Bosch isn’t admitting that they can’t make dishwashers and is stalling with the hope that they can somehow get the parts. Once they get parts though, they have a huge backlog of orders to work through.

My research bears this out. My salesperson says we are supposed to get ours in October/November even though we were supposed to get them this month. I called another large company and they said they can’t get Bosch until next year.

Regards to rinsing dishware before loading ... I haven't done that with any dishwasher I've ever used, which goes back to 1975. Scrape/dump off the heavy food scraps, yes. Rinse, absolutely not. The only one that presented a problem was a bottom-of-the-line early 1980s Frigidaire that had no filter. It was in a house I bought, and was quickly replaced.

I've had 3 Bosch dishwashers. 2 in previous house and now one in current house. I never rinse. Just scrape big bits off into garbage and place right in dishwasher. The only issue I have had is with egg crusted on a spatula and placed on the 3rd rack. So if I have something with egg on it I will now put it on the 2nd rack and not 3rd rack and it comes out fine.

My brother and his wife always rinse their dishes. I'm talking the dishes look clean kind of rinse. They don't have a Bosch. He tells me if they don't rinse they don't get clean. Turns out they don't run their dishwasher everyday so dirty dishes would sit in there for 3 days and then they would use econo cycle which I am going to assume uses cold water. No wonder why their dishes don't get clean without rinsing.

I often leave dishware for 2, 3, even 4 days until a full load accumulates.

First Asko lasted 20+ years. Installed another in existing house and bought new for new house. Feel like they fit a ton of stuff and no issues of cleaning. I'd do that before I hand washed. ;-)

We talked to our appliances person and he is advising us to move towards Asko. Says he has an Asko 50 series that he can work the price around for us. When we booked all our appliances we were told there would be a loaner in case the DW is not on time. Now, he says he would still provide a loaner if we are firm on Bosch and we will have to deal with the hassle of swapping out when our Bosch 800 is available but not sure when that will be, or to go with the Asko 50 series. He seems to be confident that both are comparable and even more, Asko a little bit better in terms of 2 year warranty compared to 1year of Bosch. We are seriously confused now!

In CR's testing, many Bosch models performed well and there was no discernible, positive price-to-performance relationship. The Bosch 300 Series SHEM63W55N is a recommended model, and is in-stock at both Best Buy and Appliances Connection and for delivery by July 28 by Home Depot*.

Installing a dishwasher is a pain. I wouldn't want a loaner.

I love our 10-y/o Bosch DW. Cleans well, just scrape, no pre-rinsing. This is the first DW I have had in 40 years (and ever) that cleanes casserole dishes! No more hand scrubbing those.

I have an Asko in my new build and am replacing asap! I don't love the way it loads but what annoys me every time I run it is that I have to wait for it to slooooowly go through it's spiel before I can press start - "Asko......powered by Scandinavia...add rinse aid". I just want to press start and be done, lol. This might not bother most people but it drives me crazy enough that we will be replacing this summer. If there is a way to turn that off we haven't found it yet.

I am having the same problem trying to get Bosch dishwasher. Our kitchen appliance vendor called Bosch direct and was told that the 2 models that I want in the 800 series 40db or 42db were not being made and that they had no specific replacement to offer or when one might be available. I am interested in the quieter dishwashers and none seem to compare to the Bosch.
I hope you find your answer to what you need. We too are building a home and it has been very difficult finding anything with a true ETA. We have been told by multiple vendors that the companies are backlogged with demand and it seems that what they are making post covid to meet the demand is not as quality of a product because they are rushing them through manufacturing process. We were advised time and time again that no matter what brand we buy to make sure and get an extended warranty to cover mistakes not caught through quick production.
It has not been fun.

@M, good point on warranty. I think it applies to all in general.

klipscomb, dishwashers nowadays are engineered to require rinse aid for proper performance. Are you not using it? Check your user manual for how to adjust the dosage. There may (or may not) be a zero or no rinse aid setting ... but be advised that some brands automatically increase heating on the final rinse water (which also increases cycle time) to compensate. Perhaps if there's no zero or off setting then fill the dispenser and set the dosage to the lowest level so the supply lasts as long as possible between refills.

These pics were posted to other discussions years ago, not done specifically for sharing here now. My dishwasher is one of those "toy" Fisher & Paykel DishDrawers (a 2003 model). A Bosch or Asko can surely do as well. :-)

Would not recommend the ASKO dishwasher. Purchased this dishwasher and had it professionally installed when we remodeled our kitchen in 2020. This is way pricier than the similar dishwasher, but we heard good reviews and decided to go for it.

It is a good dishwasher and does a great job in cleaning and drying and is super quiet.

Unfortunately, it broke down on us 2.5 years later.

The customer service from this company is horrible to say it kindly.

They partner with Pinnacle Service in our area. Our unit is supposed to be in warranty for 5 years and so we contacted the company to get this repaired. Still have not heard back from them after 4 weeks!

Cannot find any appliance repair to service this model even if I am willing to pay and the repair guys say that this was a terrible company to deal with for parts etc.

Ultimately, I had to trash this dishwasher and get a new one.

I would strongly discourage anyone else from purchasing this dishwasher.
