Gosh! Your room looks very similar to this kitchen we just finished remodeling. I wonder if a small sideboard with a nice mirror above could work in your room, too.

I thought about that...a simple sideboard buffet and a horizontal mirror. Crate & Barrel and Pier 1 have nice looking sideboards...just needs some add'l ooomph! Thanks for input!

Get rid of everything on that wall. Add tall black or red Buffett from crate and barrel, or their look should be long 6 ft add that art over it centered hang 6" from top. Add a big colorful bowl pick a accent like red, yellow. Fill bowl with green apples place at one end. On other add some tall decor items can be whatever you want just 3 and group together on other end. Get roman shades on window, in a gray print. Keep 1/2 way down. De clutter whole rm. move table so more centered with light.

A new light would help a lantern type in black or bronze. Hang 36" from top of table.

Instead of painting which too small add a big 36" sunburst mirror. TJMax has them.

If you're looking for storage (and who isn't!), I'd get the largest sideboard or wall unit I could find.

Paint walls 2 shades darker than cabs. Or revere pewter by Benjimin Moore.

This was my kitchen before; I painted the walls from pale yellow to Creamy by Sherwin Wms. Looking for a pop in color on blank wall...a red sideboard buffet could be fun

Not liking floors now. If you could go gray or even slate would be better.

I would love to go slate!!! Just a little costly and unable to do anything with built in 1960's cabinets; for now I can brighten up with simple, chic floor rugs?
