Tenax Proseal.

I am not an expert, but I thought quartzite did not have to be sealed. I have Taj Mahal quartzite not sealed for several years with no probelms.

@happy2b…gw If you search Gardenweb/Houzz for quartzite staining you will see some quartzites do need to be sealed.

I think I remember that you can put a few drops of water on it, then check back in 5-10 minutes to see if any of it absorbed. If so, you should seal.

….If you use a sealer, I second the recommendation for Tenax Proseal. That stuff is amazing. Zero stains on all of our honed marble (bathroom floor/walls, and a small breakfast nook tabletop).

@happy2b…gw, in all the years I have been reading here only one time have I seen a person with Taj Mahal that was having problems. Most of the quartzites that stain are "white", some should not be labeled as quartzites, but others although they are as hard as most quartzites, they are also porous, so those need to be sealed. Reading the geology threads by Karin_mt will give people some basic tests they can perform before they buy a slab, so they can make an informed purchase decision.
