I steer clear of the political "discussions" that pop up (and away) here. However I read a re-publication of an essay, from the New York Times, in our local online paper that I would think nearly everyone (regardless of political views) would nod their head in agreement with as they read it. I don't know that it's accessible anywhere without a subscription but if you have one you can find it by the headline "On My 100th Birthday, Reflections on Archie Bunker and [the orange one]".

Below is an excerpt that I too hope can become a reality.

I have been moved by the courage of the handful of conservative Republican lawmakers, lawyers and former White House staffers who resisted [T's] bullying. They give me hope that Americans can find unexpected common ground with friends and family whose politics differ but who are not willing to sacrifice core democratic principles.
