Both of your seedlings are lovely, but the white one is really special. White is not my color, but I appreciate a good one when I see it. Yours looks very white in your photos.

I also like Royal Jester and Smug. I hope Smug gets more buds when you plant it.

Its great to see your seedlings out performing most of the registered ones! I remember Smug catching my eye last season, hope it improves in the ground, so pretty.

I'm with Nan about white, but I do add them to my mix occasionally. Your seedling and Lightning Round are both nice ones. Regale Finale always looks good for you too...................Maryl

Smug and Royal Jester always attract my attention. Lighning Round is really pretty. Had to look that one up and saw it was another Pierce. Wonder how it is doing for height and bud count. He seems to have lots with very high bud counts, but everyone I have heard say they don't get anywhere near that. Of course, I don't often get the bud counts hybridizers get.

Nancy - Like most Pierces, Lightning Round is much shorter here and has only a fraction of the bud count he gets. I got it as a single fan last year, and grown in a pot then it was 28 inches tall. This year in the ground it is 22 inches tall. It had 14 buds on the original scapes, and I think the rebloom scape has about 12 buds. But nearly everything here is shorter and has fewer buds than normal because of the lack of rain in May and June. It's a slow multiplier, and only now has added a second scape.

Sherry - It's no great surprise the seedlings are outperforming the registered ones. That's where all the fertilizer and supplemental water went.

Nan - Thanks for your kind comment about the near white seedling. I am very fond of that one. However, I was disappointed it had so few buds this time. Two years ago, with bud building, it had one scape with 47 buds. Last year, with bud building, it had a scape with 41 buds, and the rest of the scapes had bud counts in the high teens and twenties. This year with the lack or rain in May and June, plus such a long stretch of temps near 100, there was no bud building. The best scape had 21 buds, and the six others had bud counts ranging from 16-19. Karen, who used to post here, has a piece of that one and she said it had lots of buds and branches in Massachusetts this year.

Lightning Round is lovely. Poor Smug. Imagine spending your life in a pot. I have to admit that plants do better here when placed directly in the ground, but don't always start up there. Regal Finale is so velvety.

Last Chance for Romance always looks so lovely for you and look at those buds. Your white seedling is lovely. Is Regal Finale reblooming? Great photo of Smug.

Smug looks so delicate and pretty. I also love Lightning Round! And I always pick Royal Jester because bicolor. Both seedlings are so nice, the white one is my favorite. How exciting to have new seedlings starting blooming now!

Kate - Regal Finale and lots of my lates are blooming about a month later than usual because of the lack of rain in June.

Glad to see you have some lates going and going to start! When I look at old lists of mine for 7 or more years ago, it is remarkable to see how soon my season used to be done.

Tiffany Shade, Regal Finale, & Rainbow Maker are my top favorites of this nice post.
