Where are you located? How has the weather been? Were they semi-leafless with some dead branches when you bought them? If so they were in poor condition before you planted them. And it seems odd that they have fat flower buds at this time of year, unless you are gardening in the Antipodes. However, they seem to be producing new growth, so they are clearly putting down roots. I think all you can do is be patient and keep them watered. In due course you can cut out the dead stuff when you’re sure it’s definitely defunct.
