Here are some seedlings.

I am liking this Shores of Time X Wolverine seedling.

This is (Cherry Pie a la Mode X Stellar Stitchery) X Cherry Pie a la Mode.

We crossed Explosion in the Paint Factory with Ruby Grandeur. We didn't have any other striped tets to cross it with (except one seedling) so we hoped to get a few stripes. None of the cross had any stripes, but the seedling have large flowers on tall, well budded scapes with rich color. So I guess it is all good.

I really like this two year old seedling. It is Raggedy Man X Sonoran Desert Rose.

Bob loves butterfly weed. He has the tropical type in three colors--orange, yellow and scarlet.

Hell on Wheels is wonderful! My favorite seedling is that last one, I really like it. I like butterfly weed. All I have now is the tall big leaf variety, I think swamp milkweed. Don't care for it, but I leave some plants for the butterflies. I keep meaning to get the orange perennial form. My dad always liked it. My stepmom mad fun of him cause he dug some out of a field to plant in the yard. Just a couple years later I started seeing it in garden centers. Mine disappeared, and of course can't find plants any more local. Guess I need to plant some seeds. I have never tried the tropical varieties.

I can see why you took that photo of Hell on Wheels -what a clump!! Orange Skies has a lot of colors going on. I rrally like that Shores of Time seedling.

The Hell on Heels clump is a stunner! My favorite seedling is the one out of Cherry Pie a la Mode. Pride of Barbados has an interesting flower.

What can you tell us about Hell on Heel's hybridizer?

Gail Braunstein is the hybridizer of Hell on Heels. She lives somewhere in Ohio, maybe in the Cincinnati area. I have been to her garden, but that was several years ago (on a tour bus so I have no idea how we got there).. Her garden was on the tour of the Region 2 Summer Conference held in Cincinnati (maybe in 2013). I don't know how much she hybridizes--she has only 4 intros. Bob bought Hell on Heels at an auction at a Region 2 event. If I remember correctly, I believe she said Hell on Heels was her nickname at her job. It blooms profusely when most of the other daylilies have quit. We really like it.

I've seen Pride of Barbados at the Tulsa butterfly/hummingbird garden. It wasn't a mass of flowers, but rather had intermittent large blooms that were colorful and showy. An unusual plant that added to the diversity of the usual B&H plants at the garden. Your picture is a very good example of one. ..........Flame of the West looks good and I like the color on your Ruby Grandeur seedling. Looks nicely saturated and deep...........Maryl

Hell On Wheels had to be shown! Fantastic clump of it and love the color. I like Flame of the West too, of course. True, you don't get many all-one-color blooms on Explosion, but, you do get one occasionally. And I like the Explosion seedling too. Orange Skies. is a pretty one. Pride of Barbados is a pretty blossom, and I, too, like to have butterfly weed, although the butterflies always eat all the leaves; well, the larvae eats them. . Shores of Time X Wolverine seedling is really pretty and so is Raggedy Man X Sonoran Desert rose. Nice post, Nancy.
