New sofa doesn’t match house!

My new Pottery Barn sofa just arrived and I’m really disappointed in how it looks in my house. The grey fabric seems to clash with the off white kitchen cabinets and beige walls and countertops. Is there a way to make this work or should I try to exchange for an ivory fabric??

That's because it's a cool gray and the other colors in the room are warm. So if you can exchange it, that would probably be a good idea. Take some PB upholstery samples home so you can check the color before ordering and be open minded about the colors you consider. It doesn't have to be off white.

If you can't return it, focus on getting a rug that has both warm and cool colors to try to pull the room together. Your floors look pretty neutral so you might be able to get this to work better. Tell the salesperson what the issue is. They might be able to help you.

I would senfd it back just for the sloppy upholstery job. Maybe after a few days it won't look so bad but I am wodering why you ordered gray when all the other colors are warm beiges ?I would start by cjhanging the light bulbs to LEDs 4000K that will smooth out some of the yellow cast you have now . Good advice above abiut a rug that combines warm and cool colors and some color for sure. Then use the other colors for accents . Right now you have nothing else in the space I think starting with therug will make a huge difference.

Believe it or not I actually choose a warm grey! You can see it when I put cool grey samples next to it. That’s why I’m so surprised it looks this bad. Considering this ivory (color is a perfect match) but afraid that it may be too flat and more importantly that I will always worry about it getting dirty (which is why I originally decided to go with grey).

Oof I think an ivory couch would be tough if its not slipcovered for washing (unless you live alone) - I think you can make the grey work - the right rug and pillows will help. Could be worth it to find a designer to help - it would not take them long

on another note will PB take the sofa back? I tried to cancel a sofa order that was running 8 months late and i got stonewalled until somone gave me the secret customer service email that actually gets answered

The wrinkles on the seats would drive me crazy, that would make me send it back along with the dullness of it.

Here is the view from the other side. It’s cloudy today so the couch looks more beige than it would when it’s sunny. No other furniture has been purchased yet. The delivery people damaged the leg of the sofa when trying to get it through the front door. Customer service offered me some money back or I could exchange it so I may have an opportunity to change the fabric but of course it would be easier to just keep this one!

Now that you don't have any plans on sending it back then follow Patricia and Jinx advice to put some other elements on it. Start with choosing a perfect rug for it. Some pillows, a side table etc.

Oh, it’s great that your fireplace has some gray in it.

I still think you can make this work.

This room reminds me of yours:

You certainly don’t have to do such a monochromatic theme at all, I just wanted to show cool sofas and warmer walls together. Do some searches for lots more inspiration pictures. You could go neutral or colorful with such a blank slate. I’d personally want a different style rug than the example above, something lovely and with a more traditional feel, but I don’t know your style.

    Lots of potential!

It looks fine, just need a rug and other objects to tie things together. PB isn't known for their quality so expect this couch to get "smushed" and have a very lived in look in a short amount of time. My sister has it in Navy and it's so low and squishy, it's hard to get up and down from.
