Ours only required the fire pad beneath the stove as it is a double walled pipe.

Does that brick match the brick on the exterior of your home? If not, talk to someone at Romabio about the durability of their masonry stains/paints around heat. They can color match their products to paints as well so you can change the look considerably. Find a closet for all the stuff you don't need there. It might be fun to find some metal wall sculptures that match the stove color.

What is the style you have in the space there are dozens of really nice more modern woodstaoves but with no context all we can do is guess.I aguess my other is is this something you need for heating? To heck with resale if you do not need it get rid of it and gain a lot of space

First decide if you are ever going to use it. If not, then remove it and patch the roof.

There are plenty of nice looking stoves out on the market. Personally I like it better when the stone ( or tile ) treatment goes all the way to the ceiling. Some are really nice when they are on a platform and space is left below for storing wood .
