Have you tried putting the couch out have you tried switching the large couch that is under the red picture with the smaller chair. It would divide the room making it more cozy. The couch would then face the red picture.

Nice art get that clock off the wall is there a way to show the whole spac ein one shot maybe a pic from the stairs could work. I see what you mean by no foacl point but I need to see thew whole room Please do not leave the table set whe you are not eating that never works. I think the room is cozy but I need more context.Remove the yellow small rug aand theother decor items that serve no purpose and take away 1/2 the pillows on that small sofa . BTW not sure why the picture of the kitchen at all.

Issues: Too many small items, furniture placement, and accessories are all combining in making room busy and akward.

Placement: Try love seat opposite couch and chair where love seat was, but over a bit on a slight angle, so the art can be lowered and now you’ll have access to the doorway! Leaving couch where it is, grounds the room and place coffee table horizontally.

Accessories: suggest removing all the small items on the window wall. Less is more. Lower art above couch, remove yellow rug, as it’s too much.

Colors/pattern: the check and stark yellow cushions are jarring; the patterned rug is enough. I’d use warmer tones....highlight your art, which is getting lost right now. Test lots of cushion combinations/mix patterns and can also use cushion covers to save money.

Can you get another white chair and move the settee to the foyer? Two chairs opposite the sofa will look better. I think you need a larger rug and a smaller coffee table. I would lower the horizontal art to 5" above the sofa and move the one on the stairwell wall to the actual stair area. It is too large for the narrow wall it is on.

I noticed immediately that the drapery is too short. There is plenty of room to lower the rods. IMO that would be a huge improvement!

To have a focal point it would be the wall behind the couch and you could move the white chair that it faces it

Hi Patricia, Thank you! Yes, I’m doing what you said. Let me make some changes that I can do myself and take a pic. The kitchen picture was to show what’s opposite of the large sofa. That small sofa is a day bed. It has bare wood at the back but will take a picture removing few cushions.

I agree that warmer tones on pillows would create more balance. Something organic- not geometric in pattern. I’d take the clock down too. Have you ever thought of not having the drapery?

If you can tell me it would be better I can pull it down. Much easier to maintain.

Update: I have someone that will remove the drapery for me. I’m still looking for warm tone pillow covers. I’ll post a picture when I have some visible changes. Again, thank you for all your suggestions.

The main functional flaw i see is…there are no side tables for the seating…where to put a drink?…a book? A lamp?…in a perfect layout the seating would face each other..for conversation…..i like the bold art as it keeps the eye down at the seating/sight level…but the draperies are dominating the space…and unnecessarily accentuating the ceiling height…simpler window coverings with an interesting texture or pattern would make more sense and could be adjusted more easily….and in such an open white space i think your bold art…pillows ….and accessories are perfect…adding the spark to the decor and the surrounding white space…your taste seems more eclectic and your choices imply you are good at it..it is much more interesting than the expected monochromatic ..neutrals…

I wouldn't let a little lack of curtain fabric be a concern - it looks nice, really.

Have you tried placing the sectional facing the painting? Then move the settee where the sectional was? You should be able to keep the chair on the same side just not at an angle.
