Try Aralia alata.

I guess A. elata is just as plausible :-) I went with A spinosa since that is native and could be expected to pop up spontaneously in that location. Was not aware that A. elata is considered invasive over much the same area and so also appear spontaneously.

I've never seen anyone growing this as a houseplant.

Nor in an aquarium.
