I don't think the flowers last long enough to bother with staking. I just cut them and put them in a vase.

I put a measuring tape too it. It's actually 42 inches above the pot! I added zero fertilizer. Flowers are starting to come out now, but it still has a way to go before it is in full bloom. Maybe a weird variety of flower? Or the MiracleGro soil just wasn't the right thing somehow? I dunno. I got it staked now. Should still be pretty.

Definitely. Watch closely, it will happen quickly.

It is top heavy. Glads tend to be so even when planted in the garden. In a smallish container, they are even more so and flopping or leaning over is par for the course.

No weird flower, nothing about the potting soil is of concern. It is just the nature of the beast and staking will help.

No doubt that it will, but the bloom period is so short. I have several patches of these around my yard & the leaning is just kind of the luck of the draw of whether there is enough wind to push them over during the week or two that the flower stalk is blooming. When I see them down, the stalk is usually too crimped to recover or get enough moisture to complete the top blooms with the aid of a stake. Staking has also resulted in stalks bending/breaking again, at a higher point. It's not been a one-size-fits-all-stalks thing for me, more of an individual basis.
