Sorry you didn't have your question addressed...I think it would fine to do honed on the floor and polished on the wall. Can't answer the rest, though.

IMO quartzite or marble will need upkeep and honed staoned just asks for staining . I do agree if large panels are the plan you better have sombody who has done this work many times it is an art to install huge pieces of stone. Yes corian will work but I hate corian so not comment there . Have you checked out the shower panelsl from Porcelanosa they have some awesome ones and also names of installers in your area,

Any natural stone will have to be sealed regularly if you use it for the shower walls. That's fine if you don't mind the upkeep, but I'd opt for engineered quartz instead. Also, most of the engineered quartz manufacturers will have thinner slabs available for wall cladding in addition to the standard 3/4" slabs they have for counters.

And yes, you can mix polished and honed finishes for walls vs. floors.

I have a newly remodeled shower made of Corian slabs and I absolutely love it. The Corian we used is called Antarctica, which is white with a little mottling that gives it some appearance of depth. We also have a Corian shower pan, so there is no grout to deal with in the shower - just caulk where the walls meet and between the floor and the walls. The ease of maintenance is fantastic, but I wouldn't have sacrificed appearance to get it. This Corian is lovely, in my opinion..

We have a white quartz countertop on the vanity and a marble look tile on the bathroom floor. All of the whites are compatible and we're very pleased.

Thanks all! Installer is definitely experienced so we’ve got that going for us. I’m not sure how we ended up down this path, but at least I think I’m starting to understand what’s involved? We’ll need to regularly seal the countertops in the kitchen (marble - here when we bought…) so I think adding our shower to the list wouldn’t be crazy!
