Zline is a disaster that even Lowes salesman warned me against. Contractor boyfriend refuses to install and major showrom (Ferguson, sister to Build.com) just dropped because of defect rate/poor warranty and customer service.

If you have the option to select from a broad variety of brands, then I agree with Patricia’s suggestion. On the other hand, if you are limited by your builder to those 2 brands, I would highly suggest Kitchenaid because servicing Zline will be a disaster. If you survey local appliance servicers in your area, note how many that can repair each of these 2 brands, you will find Zline more difficult and you always want more than one servicer to pick from if possible. For dishwashers, I was partial to Bosch in the past but the newly redesigned Kitchenaid models are impressive both in cleaning ability and relative reliability.

While waiting for further responses, try a search on "Z-Line." (Use the search bar at the top of this web page.) You'll find numbers of threads on various Z-line appliances including several very long (and long running) ones where your questions are discussed.

When you say, "I'm in the process of building a new home", let's hope you can choose the appliances you'll be using for years to come. Choose a Bosch or Miele dishwasher with a upper flat utensil rack. There are a range of price points. Look at a Bosch slide-in induction range. Don't choose an over-the-range micro. A Sharp micro is dependable. If you're on a budget at this point your range has an excellent oven. Skip the separate oven. If you have more budget room a Miele CSO is a popular choice. But expensive. For a frig don't buy a Samsung. Parts and service are difficult.

I absolutely do not recommend Z line kitchen. We have one of their ovens that is under a recall for carbon monoxide gas leaking. The company sent out a part for the repair, but has made no effort to schedule a repair. The last communication I got from this company was that I was free to schedule my own repair and they would reimburse me $300. The issue with that is no technician will #Warranty apart that they did not provide. I feel like I’m going around in circles with this company and they’ve given us nothing but the runaround.

Between these two brands, this decision is fairly straight forward. Kitchenaid will be serviceable with parts and labor. Zline is not easily repaired. If I cannot have something serviced, I wont consider it in my purchase options .
