Amazing what some of those streaked plants go for. There are a couple I find appealing, but generally I don't care for them much.

Sherry: What was the names of the daylilies?.............. I see one now called "Undi Pants" (groan), that's at $760.00 currently. It's a "splattered" one out of Harry's Undefineable. The Hybridizer is listed as Babb. Never heard of Babb and not listed with Charlottes.......... I like the randomly spotted ones better then the streaked ones, but not enough to pay the big bucks...............Maryl

I read about those auctions on another daylily site. What ridiculous prices. I personally don't care for streaked and splattered daylilies and wouldn't bid a dime. But people who want to hybridize with them are willing to pay a lot.

Maryl, I find the spotted ones even less appealing 🤔 good thing there are so many different daylilies to suit us all. I am not sure about the ones that grow extra fringe along the mid ribs. But then, I don't have a lot of double flowering daylilies either, so maybe that is to be expected. I like the ones that look "tidy".

We like the striped/broken color daylilies but the prices on the Lily Auction are too rich for us. I like Redefinable from Mike Holmes (with teeth) and Starman from Rich Howard.

It is not something I would buy or take if given to me. That is just my preference on how I like my garden to be.

Maryl, I think the plant name was Redefinable. there are several more auctions of Starman up for bids now now, all are over $600 already. I cant find the $2900 auction today…..wondering if that was an error and got removed. EDIT…found Starman $2900 auction was a buy it now and it was purchased!!!!

I like Rich Howard's Starman too, Nancy, but that price is one I would never pay. The spotted one doesn't appeal to me like the stripes. at least that spotted one doesn't.

Update……it was Starman that went for that high bid. So far three single fans went for $2500 or more EACH. Three more up for auction now along with Redifinable auction still going.

Even if it was a true blue, I couldn't justify the expense. Not that i have that kind of money. I find it hard to justify paying more than $15. to be honest.

The Starman auctions totaled around $15000, rough figure. Undi Pants got no bids so far at $495.Current Redefinable auction has no bids yet at $2905. Redefinable auctions total so far are around $10000….mind boggling.
