Wrong floor transition?

The hallway is hardwood and the small room is the laundry room with vinyl flooring.

Do you think this floor transition looks wrong?

How to make it looks better?

Thank you.

at the time of install, a threshold piece should have been done.

you could see about adding a small threshold piece

or a transition piece. close the bathroom door. what's visible? if it's the wood, you do a the wood transition.

matching one of the floor colors

actually, this would have been a better option. A saddle. it bridges the transition between two very diff floor styles

or, a Schluter metal T piece

Don't touch it providing both floor coverings are the same vertical height and secured. No floating.

    Great looking work

Do you think changing the direction of the vinyl flooring in the laundry room will help? Make it vertical? Or no big difference?

. The laundry : ) ? Rip it. Sometimes you goof. The selection was that. A porcelain hex, a large format in a deep charcoal? A pattern even.

Does the door to the laundry room tend to stay open or closed? It looks like the door opens out into the hall which would mean to me it probably tends to stay closed? If so, I think it's a tidy transition and I don't know that I would change anything, even though I would either have run the laundry in a different direction or picked another style.

Looks good to me. Keep the door closed and it will look perfect from either side.

It is a nice job. you really don't have to add anything.

I agree w/Jan though. I would have picked a diff flooring. you never put a fake wood look floor next to real wood or another faux wood.

A nice dark hex tile would have worked.

or a porcelain or cement tile.

    anything but faux wood.

Keep the door closed is the easiet solution

You would be surprised how often 'don't do anything' is good professional advice.

Am I insane or does the laundry door open INTO the hall, instead of into the laundry? And if so.........WHY?

If it does, the good news is you will be forced to close it. The bad news is the route of do nothing about the floor selection, will make you as crazy as the door swing. : )

The transition is good, the laundry room flooring choice is not. I’d personally replace the laundry room floor with tile.

Maybe the laundry room is small enough that it functions better with an outswinging door?

IMO close the door and be done. I agree wrong choice for flooring there . A tile look vinyl would have been a lot better but it is done and looks fine,

The laundry room is small so I make the door swig out. (The original design is to swing in.)

I plan to install some cabinets and shelves so I thought it's better to swing out.

    Maybe I am wrong?

Could have been a pocket door versus a swing. Could have been a better flooring choice in the laundry. Who knows? We're not seeing a plan and dimensions so it's Shoulda woulda coulda.

If there are resources to fix it, there is no issue and you fix it. If not? You keep the door closed. Or listen to it slam shut every time someone passes by in the hallway.

A pocket door allows the light from the window in laundry INTO the hallway. A door swinging in? Same thing. Changing a small area of flooring allows a better visual. Only you can decide how much annoyance you want to live with. Decide that before the washer and dryer get hooked up. For all we know, if front load........those could have been stacked with a 150 dollar stack kit. : )
