Is black the only requirement? Any particular reason you settled on Pella? Just wondering. Do you need wood on the inside? Black interior as well?

I'm looking for white wood interior and possibly black on the outside. Pella price was reasonable but I am wanting to look into other options. Also get some feedback on whether black exterior is the way to go. I've heard the Pella's can fade after about 10 yrs or so.

Thank you, I am going to check those out!

In that comparison, Ultra's recommendation is spot on.

If the trim is in good shape as well, I would probably opt for an insert application too.

What is your goal in replacing the windows? Just a color change? Style change? Energy efficiency? I see 70 year old windows with at least that much life left in them with a tiny bit of tlc.

I did Anderson 400 series on this house...black outside and white inside. I chose 2/1 for the muntin style and I did a full view black door with muntins 2/2. Love the light that comes in the door.

Last house I did Marvin but had a lot of trouble with the sliders (there were 4) because the seals leaked causing the glass to fog up. All were replaced by Marvin, so no problem there, but two of the replacements had the same problem.

@HALLETT & Co. The goal would be a style/color change to black casements for a more modern look. I don't love the look of the storm windows that are currently on there. Also, to have a more functional window. The house was built in 1940 and settling has caused some of them to jam, as well as some rotting and cracked glass. They are pretty beat up. I was not sure that the original windows are worth saving so I am interested in hearing opinions on that.
