Does it have to be a double vanity? I think you're going to have to choose between storage and two sinks--a 48" double vanity isn't going to have much room for anything but plumbing (and won't have much counter space, either). IKEA's 48" double vanity is probably the best you'll find for that since theirs have very shallow sinks and creative storage to maximize the drawer space. Some of their door options lean more traditional, or you can do custom doors for it. But I'd give some serious thought to either dropping to one sink if you can make that work--lots of options with decent storage then--or figuring out a way to get to at least 60".

We have really no idea of your style other than rather traditional. IMO most vanities are made to withstand regular use and I had 3 boys they had to learn to respect the stuff we owned . I use Godmorgon from Ikea for bathrooms a lot the storage is awesome and can be well organized too. Totally affordable and I use the sinck/ couter that is included when I do kids or rental bathrooms .

Thanks for taking the time to respond! For the sake of family harmony, two sinks is far superior. That allows us to have two kids brushing teeth with minimal squabbling. If we expanded the sink space, we'd sadly have to drop from a bath to a shower, which wouldn't work for our kids' ages.

We really like a classic aesthetic (for a different bath, we're going with this vanity with black/white tile). And in terms of durability, I just like things that I can buy once and then not have to replace for decades! Our kids do know how to respect furniture and haven't wrecked things, but I would like something that's not made of particle board that will chip within months.

The IKEA Hemnes vanity might be a good option for you--it's mostly wood construction, and is relatively traditional-looking. No idea how it will hold up relative to the Godmorgon, though we have Hemnes dressers that have been workhorses. The Godmorgon could also work with custom wood drawer fronts and side panels (since the stock fronts are particleboard). There are several places that make custom IKEA drawer fronts and then you can choose your own style/stain/color to push it towards a more traditional look. Both of those will give you solid storage if you have to stick to 48" and want to keep both sinks.

Thanks, Artemis! Our guestroom furniture is actually Hemnes that's over a decade old, and it doesn't look worse for the wear! You're right that that line is a workhorse!

I know this thread is old but I'm in the exact same predicament with 4 kiddos and a 48' vanity width to work with. Finding one that can do 2 sinks plus good storage has been like finding a needle in a haystack. What did you end up doing?
