Pool rehab, installed a new winter overflow line,

Plumber drilled hole for new over flow line too low on pool wall. ( loop lock cover will not sit on water level in winter and will wear out due to rubbing on pool deck quickly

Is there a way to temporarily reroute /raise a pvc elbow/extension so water level can be higher but elbow and extension can be removed in summer months?

You can have 2 potential problems adding an elbow for an extension.

One, any ice that forms in the pool could possibly crack the extension from expansion/contraction.

Two, the weight of any snow or ice that forms on top of the cover can put pressure on the pipe extension and tear a hole in the cover.

We generally set our winter overflow pipes a few inches below the tile line.

If the overflow is any lower, your best best bet is to leave it capped and just monitor the water level prior to freezing conditions.
