Sweet little Violette de Bordeaux yay ! Did you order new VdB once you found out that your VdB is actually RdB ?

Anna the plant ripened some figs and i ate them and could tell it was a ronde .

Used to grow it while back and have many pictures documenting that cultivar it grows very fast like the mission cultivar once grew in large container.

This Vdb will go in crawl space this winter where temps are better than the attached garage.

I have never tested Ronde de Bordeaux. Last fall I was given young grafted RdB, it woke up in spring pure thing it looked like it was sappose to be thrown on burning pile, I tried a few thing but nothing helped, then it started a new nice healthy side branch, I cut the old sickly part off after that it was growing vigorously, it produced figs at every leaf but I doubt that if will ripe this season, hopefully next season I will be able to taste the different between RdB and VdB.

Reason i asked is always believed that there are different strains depending on where it came from or misnamed ?

As i recall back then around 2007/2008 our Vdb was purchased as Vdb from Edible Landscaping but recall seeing Negronne with dominant leaves of 3 lobes on other sites i guess it depended on where plant was purchased from, then there was Petite Negra do not recall leaf shape and Vdb with the 5 lobes or as some same 3 lobes with 2 thumbs.

Anyways thanks for showing yours here is the one i had and was seeking one that had the 5 lobe shaped leaves even as a baby plant they would show this trait .

The seller said his was originally purchased from Hirts.

Called edible Landscaping yesterday and asked about VdB was told they may have some this winter.

Here was ours from back then i looked at pictures as i rooted several of this plant from cuttings and they match at least in shape of leaf luckily to the new plant bought

Noticed on my disk some pictures from 2008 are blank as this was when i first started to take pictures of our fig plants just never thought of doing so back then.

i recall taking this below picture in the evening showing the leaves notice the coloration of the figs and about 5 weeks away from getting ripe it seemed they did this on the plant come out light bronze then as they grew turned a greenish light bronze then dark purple eventually.
