An above ground rhizome. Happens sometimes. Called walking sansevieria due to new pup being far away from mother plant. You can cut and let dry a few days and start it in another pot but wait till it starts to grow a new plant first. The bigger the new plant, the easier it is.

I have these things. Bought a single plant a few years ago and it's taken over! I think it's one of the easiest sanseverias to grow.
