Lighting Design Dilemma Building a Home

I have a standard height door on the side of my house and the lights will be placed 6ft from the bottom. At the front of my house I have an 8ft x8ft tall patio door. Should the outdoor lights beside this door be at the same height as the other door or should they be placed higher since it’s a taller door?

It depends upon the light fixtures.

Yes true depends on the fixture. General design rule...more height is better. Especially for an 8 foot door, try 7 feet. Even 6 is low. Someone will scrape their head. I just checked my front door light and the bottom edge is a few inches over 6 feet. Lights should be in scale to the doors, not each other.
