never fert a stressed plant.. you might burn the roots meaning.. stress it more..

ergo.. never use a media with fert already mixed in ...

and rarely is soil amendment recommended ...

all that said.. why does it surprise you.. that if you rip a plant from mother earth.. and hoik it cross country.. that there might not be some leaf discoloration .. especially in fall ...

i hope that wall is never in blinding hot sun ... else you will cook the plant.. while it struggles to get the roots working... if it is usually like the picture shows.. then that is not a n issue ..

That location gets morning sun, but unlikely will that location see peak sun during the day.

... so don’t add potting soil to the native soil. As Ken said, amendment is not recommended. And, also as Ken said, if you move a large leafy plant in full growth it is not surprising if it grumbles a bit until it gets settled.

I am reading some conflicting information on Creeping Fig. One source says it will do well in zones 9 through 11. I am in zone 9b. But another source says that you should never let it get exposed to temperatures below 55F / 13C. A typical deep Winter day here is 40F at night and 55F peak during the day. Will the plant simply yellow during this kind of cold weather, or will all the leaves drop off?

If the plant thrived in the neighbour’s garden why would it languish in yours? How about talking to the person who gave it to you? They know the plant and your local conditions.

@floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK It is now Fall here and nighttime temperatures are falling under 55F on a regular basis. Why would you assume that the person I bought this from understood the plant, and why would you assume I don't know my own local conditions? If there is a person here who has grown Climbing Fig outdoors in Winter with temperatures under 55F, I simply wanted to have some idea of how it looks during a Winter period. It's not a complaint, and if no one here knows that is okay.

I do not assume you don’t know your own conditions. It simply seems to me that if the neighbour, who presumably gardens in the same climate you do, had been successfully growing these figs, it’s hardly an unreasonable assumption that they would understand them. After all it was originally their plant and I imagine they they live much nearer to you than anyone on this forum. So why not ask them?

@floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK I am also concerned that the soil comes up too low and may have exposed some of the roots to air. It is hard to see down there with so many stems growing out and hardening, making it hard to move them out of the way and inspect the planting.
