Personally, I would paint them. If you paint them you can choose any color or wood flooring.

Sorry not what you want to hear but I don’t see them as a finished product.

If that sofa is staying, take a cushion cover to a flooring store and see what looks good with it. If you don't want to have carpeting, look at LVP and LVT.

I would paint them. Then, you can choose a wood floor. If you keep the walls, I'd carpet throughout - something in the soft sage green family.

If this is a basement, make sure you investigate appropriate floors for basement. Real hardwood floors are a risky choice in an area that might have moisture. Carpet, vinyl plank, ceramic tile are all better options.

Thank you all for the feedback! I like the ideas. Picked up a vinyl plank floor a few days ago that was a mixture of light and dark woods but I think as many of you indicated, it clearly did not look right with the pine walls at all. Appreciate the tips and suggestions. I think I'm kind of leaning with the idea of perhaps a darker slate or tile floor or perhaps a paint over the pine to allow for some vinyl wood floor. That does help narrow things down a little better I think though.

IMO the pine walls are driving the choices so either no wood look floor or paint the pine and I have to tell you those wood walls always look like panelling from the 70s If you decide to paint make sure you do the prep work that involves cleaning with TSP sanding and then 2 coats of shellsc based primer before painting. often it is easier to just cover them with drywall

Update: just wanted to share progress since last post. Appreciated all the input and ideas. All were helpful in making decisions on next steps. Here is some photos of the updates since and before and after. This is my 1st big DIY project. Was going for a lodge/cabin type feel. Still a little bit to do but getting close to completion.

FWIW I am always suggesting the paper tapestries from Anthopologie bc they’re such a steal but a friend has this one in her lake lodge and it looks wonderful - just an idea
