I love working in the garden

Bob and I were working in the garden yesterday. While Bob was digging, I was watching a bunch of hawks circling overhead. There was about a dozen of them. Then I noticed that one had a white head and tail. We concluded it was a bald eagle. We know they nest about 30 miles north of us along the Wabash River, but I had never seen one down here. I wish it had come close enough for me to get a pictures.

That is so cool, Nancy. I used to take boat tours on a large lake known for the eagle nests. They are stunning. And you would have missed that sighting if not for the garden!!

My DH used to see several of the Bald Eagles on his road trips. They never failed to impress him. I've never seen one other then at a zoo. We get a fair amount of Kites, Kestrals, and Hawks around here and they are still thrilling to watch, but no Bald Eagles. What a sight that must have been for you......Maryl

How wonderful to see that! I have never seen one other than a captive one that, if I remember right, had been injured and unable to fend for itself. It looked so impressive up close. We see hawks a lot.

I've seen a few bald eagles in the wild, and we see hawks here frequently. I've been enjoying the butterflies here these past few weeks as I planted seedlings.
