I think that space calls for a round table, and bench seating can be a bit awkward with a round table. As a middle aged adult, I find backless seating to be uncomfortable, and climbing over a bench is also awkward. What you want to avoid are chairs with back legs that are angled back - makes it hard to scoot around them. How many people do you need to seat?

This is the typical kitchen nook design in my area. i’d recommend round table and chairs. the one person that built in bench seating then were looking at custom tables so those weird angled seats could be used… for our space the table has to basically be against the wall so really only space for 3 comfortably. Give me 3 comfortable seats over an uncomfortable bench any day!

A small oval table would work too, but I agree, no bench.

Thanks for all the initial feedback. We currently have a round table with four chairs but were hoping to have a different setup that did not protrude too much into the kitchen. We just need to sit four people comfortably

Sounds like our kitchen lol. we just squish in 4 chairs when needed but it’s definitely not as comfortable as 3. better with small kids than adult sized humans for sure.

Can you get a few more pictures from farther back? And sometimes the solution is a bench - but in your situation, the bench would be on the side that protrudes into the kitchen. That way you could completely tuck it under the table. Have you looked for curved benches?
