What do dislike about your current configuration? If you don’t like the upper two doors - I would look at Thermador and Subzero panel ready top fridge/bottom Freezer configuration. The top fridge has one door not two. The bottom of the SZ is two drawers. A column configuration wil have two stand alone units. One for the fridge and one for the freezer. This allows you to cusomize the width of each unit. However, buying two columns is more expensive. A column can also be a frdige/freezer like the SZ below. Thre are installation differences in the column versus a built in. A colunn is often used to have the fridge/freezer ”disappear” into the cabinetry. The side by side built in will be one unit. I don’t know how much space you have width wise. It appears the side-by-side (single) built-in, panel-ready refrigerator is more space and cost-efficient. The 36" Monogram ZISB360DNII has 20.2 cf and costs $9,400 while the Fisher Paykel 954080 42" Side-by-Side Column Refrigerator & Freezer Set has 20.8 cf but costs $12,100. That's $2,700 more for a gain of 0.6 cf or $4,500/cf! The Monogram is $465/cf.

I have a Bosch FD Integrated unit and am very happy with it. I believe they also make a side by side unit. Know that they are almost identical to Thermador.

Nope.

I have a 36" panel-ready Liebherr and I love everything about it. I especially like the way the shelves are configured. I can store a big platter with a leftover Thanksgiving turkey right on the middle shelf. Granted, that's once a year. But more often it has a big vat of homemade broth cooling. There's a button that accounts for hot food coming in. I think it's called Super Freeze. It gives a blast until the internal temp of the fridge is back to normal. It's my second Liebherr.
