The most common causes for necrosis at leaf tips and margins is over-watering, a high level of dissolved solids (salts) in the soil, or a combination of both. There isn't enough information, so far, to allow a meaningful conclusion as to what the cause might be.

It is not at all unusual for various factors that cause stress in plants to cause reversion to a juvenile state. As a bonsai practitioner, I see examples of these reversions frequently. In some cases, plants that have grown to sexual maturity (identifiable because they have bloomed) revert and stop blooming until the stress factor has been alleviated; but more commonly, it's seen in plants that revert from mature to juvenile foliage types. Aggressive repotting after long periods of root congestion, fertilizing with excessive amounts of nitrogen, and heavy pruning, are 3 factors I have to avoid when my trees are reaching a stage where reversion would represent a significant setback in eye appeal. You're lucky in the sense that the reversion you're seeing doesn't detract much from the plant's appearance, if at all.

Do you fully repot your plant (includes bare-rooting, root pruning, change of grow medium) or pot up at intervals? When last and which did you do? What type of grow medium do you use? How do you determine when it's time to water? Does the pot have a drain hole? Is there a collection saucer beneath the pot, or, do you use a cache pot, and do you allow the pot to sit in the water that collects in the saucer or cache pot? What do you use for fertilizer and how often do you fertilize? when last?
