Farmhouse update

I am trying to update my living room and halls to something that is lighter and brighter and compliments the colors of the wood? I want to use accents of dark greens and possibly burnt orange or creams. Any advice is welcome. Don't know where t o start

What's staying and what can change? Can you give us some more pictures from different angles? I think I see a hearth to the right, is that just for dog bowls? What's to the left and behind you in this picture? Is this primarily a TV room?

What's your style? You mentioned brighter but accented with some earthier tones, but do you like modern, traditional, rustic, eclectic? Do you have a picture of a room that you love? It could be another room in your house that you want to coordinate with or an inspration picture of what you'd like for your house. Or maybe there's a piece of furniture, art, or fabric that you love?

Well I am open to any suggestions on what I can get rid of 😂 I will have to snag a picture of the hearth when I get home. It is primarily a TV room/living room!

Our tastes probably lean more towards rustic and modern!

RL Relocation - no set budget really. Me and my husband are going to do the renovation a little at a time

Look like this space has a lot of potential and a lot of character!
    So much fun!!

I’d start by removing the popcorn ceiling.

Add a larger, thicker, baseboard and crown molding.

    Paint everything one color.

    I like the creamy white.

And then we’ll start with furnishings and layout.

I’m picturing the space with a large sectional sofa.

    Checked curtains.

    New lighting

    A nice rug.

    It’ll be beautiful! ☺️💕
    So excited for y’all.

Rustic and modern? Lots of potential here.

Do paint it all one creamy white color (the pink wall!). But not the wood. Do you have a wood wall in there? I'd leave it wood as you're into rustic.

Is that a pump organ stuffed in the back? Put it in front of a painted wall to show it off.

Probably need more and less fuzzy photos.

Fori: the wood wall is actually brick ❤

It is a pump organ! This house has not been updated in quite a while, this is one of the pieces that was left behind! I thought it was unique!

And will do! Thank you for the helpful suggestions!

HU- Thank you so much for the kind words! I see a lot of potential too. Just need a good starting point!

We were definitely planning to remove the popcorn ceiling!

I never thought about adding chunkier crown molding!

Thank you for these wonderful suggestions ❤

A big step towards lighter would be better lighting and less heavy furniture. Your current furniture is oversized and has a lot of visual weight. Picking something with less bulk will help. Would you want a rug, or that a no with the dog?

Blueberry- gotcha! I would love a rug actually! I was thinking about picking the wall color and then the rug!
