Hanging Curtains with a Cornice

I want to add three curtain panels to my bedroom window on top of the existing blinds that are installed behind the window cornice. Do you suggest that I hang the curtains behind the cornice. There is enough space to use a ceiling mounted curtain OR should they be hung from the ceiling in front of the cornice? Photos to show the window attached. Thanks kindly.
