i would not do any paint color with gray tones. with that floor, you need a warm color. i would consider a dark base - brown/espresso and light uppers. i would do solid color corian counter. that floor is the star/boss and doesn't need anything to compete with it. simplify here as much as possible.

you could also do a moss green base which might look really nice....

just be sure its a 'warm' color, keep bringing home samples.....

if u are going to do 2tone cabs, pick dark color first, then just pick their suggestion for coordinating color. also give thought to your counters, b/c this can influence your cab color choice. i would use the same color of your uppers for your walls. have some monochromatic in the room since the floor is the Boss!

search for a new counter first. paint can be anything. the white tile counter just doesnt work. I'm seeing lower cabinets in black /gold hardware / a great new counter and uppers in creamy white . does the lighting need improvement. It does not look bright enough. unclear what your budget is. the light areas in your case would be a creamier white than this pic due to your floor.

The first color is too close to the floor color. It would be OK to use it on the uppers if you want to do a two color scheme. The second color looks too white, and the third color is too gray. As @sprtphntc7a says, grays really aren't an option. Did you look at SW Aged White, or BM White Down? Since you said the light is from the north if it were me I would continue to try to find the right white/off white as natural wood is darker. After you have chosen a cabinet color then start looking at counters. I don't know whether you prefer natural or manmade products for the counters. After everything is done you choose the wall color, but if you use a white you can always paint the walls the same color. The difference between a flat and glossy finish actually makes the color look slightly different on the walls. I can't really tell what color they are now - are they gray? If you want a color, look at greens as they go well with warm color schemes.

IMO leave the cabinets as they are until you change that horribly dated floor and counters . I think keep saving and do this right or not at all. Is this your Dads house ? If you must have those cabinets painted remember that will cost as much or close to new. Unless you have painted many cabinets I would not be trying to DIY this . At best you need to have a space free of air movement and dust so you can spray all the doors and drawer fronts . Do you have that ? Then you need the proper paint for cabinets and all the cabinets need to be prepped which BTW will probablt take 2 days of hard work. That is whay having them painted is expensive So stop right now and do nothing not even new counters IMO unless you go preformed laminate which would be the cheapest change and okay until you can do this right.

I’m all about trying to make as few changes as possible and just go on with my life. I like your floors actually. Maybe 1980s but if you think about it, maybe Art Deco ish. Id keep the floors and cabinets but definitely change the countertops. I despise tile and grout, especially in a much used kitchen. Id choose a warmer but light toned wall paint - I’ll leave that to others.

The big problem with the tile is that it looks so much more formal than the rest of the kitchen. Like it belongs in an 1980s (or Art Deco?) mansion foyer. It's going to be really tough to make cohesive style upgrades with those floors in place. Focus on functional upgrades and don't spend money on anything else. New laminate countertops, or Corian/Granite if you want an undermount sink. New wall color--maybe that's where to put a soft green color.

Whatever you wind up doing, please make sure that the cooktop gets some decent ventilation.

If you decide to paint the cabinets I would go with a creamy white the color of the light marble in the inlay floor, but I think the wood looks good in there. New counters, hardware and a nice vent hood will update the kitchen nicely.

Good for you that you are sticking with the floor. If you want to keep them, that's your choice! However-- do you like them, or are you keeping them to make your dad happy? Would you both be ok if it was just downplayed a little bit? I actually like the rectangular inlay, but the octagon is a bit much. If you got a round rug to cover that, I think it will make a big difference overall. The floor stays, looks a little less dated, everyone is happy.

Also-- no grey, it won't work with the floors, which are warm. Whether you go dark or light for your finishes, you need to match the undertones.

Does your Dad live there? I would personally change the floors before changing the cabinets.
