Install floor outlets, cover the cords with rugs or channels, but battery powered lamps.

I use cable lighting in these spaces . Can you at least show us the space .Cable lighting allows you to put light where you need it and if you have a vaulted ceiling it also brings light down to human level . I need to see the space .

I use a cord- protector in one area across hardwood floors, & & not sure if/ wher I could do floor outlets, though I have a better idea, after being in the home for awhile , what are more likely to be my long- term furniture placements. I’m able to have a number of lamps plus have recessed ceiling lights, but with 10’ ceilings I still wonder if could have some lighting in between those heights & how best to do it as there are hanging ceiling fixtures in 2 open plan areas currently , but not very attractive or good height/ light output.
