ken is correct Cathy, I have planted them at any time of the year. Have to be careful that they get sufficient water if planted in summer, but Z8 in SC makes them easy. If you don't mind me asking, where in SC? I'm in Newberry.

Close around the "Bend of Four Hole Swamp? My wife and I were born and raised in Summerville. I grew up spending a great deal of time in the Edisto and Ashley River basins, and Four Hole Swamp. After 20 years in the USN we came to Newberry for a job, and have no intention of ever leaving. Its good to hear from "local home folks" folks. BillSC

How are your other hostas doing? Do they last more than 3 years in the ground?

Suggest you put them right in the ground now. You don't get the heaves in Zone 8.

Water to settle them in and remove an air pockets and the let them be...dormant.

Sorry for the late thank you. Thanks to all of you, however, they are still in the packets that they came in. I am going to soak them in some water and try to get them in the ground tomorrow. I dont get home in time enough to get to them before dark. I completely forgot about them. They are still a little moist. I though about planting some seeds this year also.
