we have our Miele since 2011, one small issue that we fixed ourselves. drainage connector - with the SS ball. ordered on-line under $10 part. that was 10 years in.

The top level tray is something to look at carefully on the Miele and Bosch models. You can take utensils in for testing at a store. Good luck.

I love my LG dishwasher. It is so quiet, that you can hardly tell that is is runnng. I loved my LG washer and dryer so much, that I purchased a LG TV, a LG free standing air conditioner and a LG dishwasher. They all function great, no issues.

My last DW purchase was a Bosch 500. I liked it a lot! Functioned much better than the KitchenAid and Jenn Aire models I had previously. I didn't think I'd use the top utensil shelf as much as I did (I like using the baskets), but it was great for flat things like spatulas. If you can look in person, bring one of your dinner plates and a cereal/salad bowl to see how they fit.

Bosch 800, quiet, cleaning is excellent, no issues/repairs (machine is nearly 7 yo). Highly recommend.

We have a Bosch Ascenta front controls model. This is the low end model that does seem to be in stock at various retailers. Cleans as well as the higher end models but has less features and no 3rd rack. Supply chain issues have been a headache for many the last two years. Long wait times for many folks on Bosch and Miele.

This dishwasher cleans the best of any of my past dw'ers, with shorter cycles. The racks can be frustrating to load with Bosch depending on your items. Some people have no issues, but with our bowls and pitchers, we do have issues and keep swear words handy. I have come to terms with this issue as the cleaning ability is fantastic. It came with a side loading bottom rack utensil basket that I strongly disliked. I grabbed a utensil basket from an old dishwasher left on the curb for garbage and use that in it's place. If you end up with a basket instead of 3rd rack, I'd recommend keeping your old dw basket in case you don't care for the new style of utensil basket. The higher end models have the 3rd rack for utensils and whatnot. No leaks yet. Going on 2 1/2 years now. Fingers crossed.

Miele (which I don't own) is another favorite of people who visit this forum which I don't hear loading complaints about.

As recommended above, take some dishes to test the racks if you can visit a model you're interested in.

Do you know why your DW was leaking? Asking because a DW leak forced our remodel, but it wasn't Whirlpool's fault. The installer used a cheap plastic part to attach a hose, and the kitchen flooded when the plumbing part failed. Whatever model you go for, make sure to have a reliable plumber install it, or look everything over after install.

I swear by Bosch. Had one in my last house for 9 years and no service calls, never a problem. Got one for our new home. Both have been the kind with a third rack for utensils. I love it because you don't have to waste space on the bottom rack with a utensil basket. I load this thing to the gills.

Any specific Bosch model to look for ? I don't want something crzay expensive like 1500-2000

When we bought our condo, it had a brand-new Whirlpool dishwasher. I had one in my first house 45 years ago, but had Kitchenaid afterwards. When we remodeled the kitchen, I took my dishes, serving bowls, etc. to the appliance store, and we were looking at Bosch, because we were getting a Bosch stove, and figured, "Why not?' I had to practically get on the floor to load the bottom rack--not good at my age and going forward, and my dishes didn't fit well. Those rimmed soup bowls! I don't understand trying to fit 3 racks in the same vertical space. We wound up getting another Whirlpool, not wanting to reinstall, and getting their top model. If I was spending money anyway, what's a little more? I have been very happy with it, 5 years down the road. It works great, the dishes sparkle, and I haven't had one moment of grief. I think it's very quiet; sometimes I walk by it to make sure it's on. just so you know, I don't have an open floor plan. I would get it again in a heartbeat. Loading your dishes in the store is super important.

Our Whirlpool has been great. It's very quiet. And at 10 years old, it still works fine. I don't like a few things about how it loads, but that's personal to your dishes. It definitely loads better than the Bosch models I've looked at. We're waiting for delivery on a Miele now, because it has racks that load better, for our dishes, than Whirlpool or Bosch. It's really important to take your dishes to a showroom and see how they fit a given model.

Our Bosch Ascenta cost around $500ish U.S dollars.

I did several loads in a Bosch a year ago when helping a friend move. I didn't like the racks.

I did a bit of loading in a Bosch at a relative's house five days ago, and my opinion on the racks stands thus far.

The two machines are different models but both have the 3rd upper rack.

I still consider the classic KitchenAid rack design as the best I've ever used.

I agree with dadoes on this one. My sister's Bosch iscquiet and has been mostly reliable. But I literally swear when having to load it because if the racks. I too prefer the Whirlpool family DW rack design although I am curious about Cove and Miele which may work well. FYI, there is now a specific Maytag model that has a food grinder but is now quiet at 44 DBs and the greatest draw of this design is that you dont have to crawl into it every month or so to clean the filter like I do now. That alone is enough reason for mevto want one 😎

I have the same ASKO in both of our homes, bought the second one because I had been so happy with the first one. My ASKO cleans so so much better than the kitchenaid did. This is a relatively unknown brand, but I have been super pleased with it. And, a couple appliance guys at high end appliance stores told me that ASKO is built like a tank.

I have a Thermador dishwasher and I love it! It is quiet, cleans well and is easy to load. I especially like the top shelf utensil rack. I never had that feature before and now I would not ever want to be without it. We bought the dishwasher as a package with our range. We were told when we purchased it that Bosch and Thermador are from the same company.

I have a delivery and installation appt for the Bosch 800 Series on the 14th of this month. It's replacing a Kitchen Aid almost 20 years old with no immediate problems other than it looks pretty dated and the sides (insides) of the door are getting hard to keep clean. Also, some very loud odd noises - but it hasn't stopped or quit washing, drying dishes. Yet ;) Its gotta be close, my service person said its lifespan was around 12 years and its 8 past that and run daily.

I'd have bought another but am told they aren't made the same quality, and the new are made by whirlpool.

The closest Miele service is more than 100 miles away. That doesn't mean I couldn't get it serviced but I'm sure it would add days to a solution if there was a problem. I've had friends who have installed Miele locally and service issues just don't work out in any kind of timely manner.

The Bosch are said to be quiet - although thats not overly important to me. I like the configuration of the third rack, my dishes will fit nicely, the half load cycle and crystal dry tempted me. About $1300.

Whirlpool has owned KitchenAid since 1986 ... 36 years. They segued bits of the design from KA to Whirlpool over an early period of years but it was prit'much done by the mid/later 90s so your 20yo KA is likely prit'much 100% Whirlpool. The model number would tell the tale via parts diagrams.

Never go by someone's comparison of 4 or more year old models. A 7 or 10 year old model is not being made any more, and with modern requirements of energy and water use, there is no comparison to what you get today, even with options and abilities.

We have a 1 year old Bosh 300 series that i made into a 500 series with just a few upgrades away from basic top rack and flatware basket. The flex rack works great, but if you want more capacity i recomend the 800 series top rack, even though it is not flexable, you have the ability to load larger items along with flatware trays if needed.

The flex flatware baskets are heavy duty and interloc side by side or back to back. Even the basic top rack has plastics that is more durable than Miele. Just read the help my top rack tines broke comments on the Miele threads. It won't happen with a Bosh.

The new top rack allow a nice range of flexibity. You can lift one side or both to make room for medium large plates in the middle basket. Even if middle basket has not enough room you can adjust either side to be higher or lower, or both as a full drop or lift. It may seem odd to see a basket hang tilted, but they clean and pull out just fine.

I can load things that would not fit in our Kitchen Aide.

I also used a large items sprayer option to replace the middle basket and allow big grills to be washed. It also required the top rack to be removed. All were easy options to do without fuss.

As for drying plastics, setting the wash to auto with sanitize and adjust jet dry setting with heated wash within the menus makes little issue with dry dishes. I wash over night and find 75% of the plastics dry. As for clean items, very few times i would need to wipe out the dried on wet cat food from the plastic bowls, which are placed in top rack.

I would think top rack would not be able to clean but it does, very well mind you. As for cost on the new 300 series, we got it shipped from a scratch and dent shop for $550 total for stainless and front panel. Found the dent was in an area unseen when installed.

The front panel setup is the best i have seen. I am over 6'2" and both wife and I have no issues identifying what button is to be pressed.

The only issue is the door springs are powerful. The door will slam shut if your being gentle. I have to place a towel between door to keep it open if letting steam out on a quick unload after wash has completed.

Note... Bosh has upgraded their door springs, from a few years back, so any complaints on door springs from older threads should be ignored.

One added bonus, Bosh had an anti flood feature. If any water leaks from unit, it will turn off completely. The water valve is at the rear connection, so if there is a leak that is from connection or with the line, no preventative option can keep the leak from floor damage.

Yes, my Bosch 800 I purposely chose a model with the newer MyWay 3rd rack, far more flexibile for items I need to wash.

The door uses a cable and spring. I think that the tension is adjustable in some way to prevent slamming shut (or the opposite, dropping down) but I could only find a video that shows how to replace the cable and spring, not adjust the tension.
