I think it will look cool as long as nobody uses it. My wife bought two trivet two years ago and the look good as new (probably because we never use them).

Something would have to be done to then to keep them from sliding on the floor.

Use my felt trivet all the time. Might be a little thick for rug?

Living in Maine, we have three seasons, winter, 4th of July, and mud. Our go to is the LL Bean water hog mat. Anything else just gets trashed.

We’d have a mat outside in the garage for actual filth, this would be more to keep our feet warm while getting out of ouside shoes.
