Taht table looks very small so how big is it? IMO probably something like this . IMO the table is too small for the chandelier too.. Do you have any color in the kitchen I think maybe a color for the cahirs to keep this from looking like a store show room.

The kitchen table is 48 inches round and I would not go any larger for that area opens up to the family room. It’s a pass through. When I place 4 chairs around the table it will fill that area nicely. I agree that the chandelier is larger than I anticipated. It’s just my husband and I, so for the most part only 2 of us will be eating at the table. This kitchen just got completed in late October and the chairs are the first priority. I plan to add a runner and a large piece of artwork to add some color. I was wondering if there were any rules as to matching dining and kitchen chairs.

No rules to matching kitchen dining chairs and counter stools, but you want them to complement each other and the other elements in the room and house.

The chandelier is large, but lines are simple. I have a thought, because I have these chairs, and they might would well with the table, the chandelier and the bar stools. The chairs are so inexpensive, it almost is embarrassing. They look so good and are comfortable. I purchased a concrete dining table (spent too much) and then, I like you, was trying to find the perfect chair. I looked and looked, found nothing, so decided to buy 6 of these chairs for the interim. That was five years ago.

I, and lisaam, agree that a higher, open back, will balance the smaller table, with the larger chandelier.

I absolutely love the modern Windsor style chairs. I just wasn’t sure if it would work. I’m glad you ladies feel that they would. I am just a little hesitant to order online because my husband is a large man and I would like them to be assembled by the furniture store. I cannot find the exact style you both posted above. Locally and it is so darn frustrating. What do you think of these 2?

I can't help but notice how white everything is and how the one blank wall could really be used to amp it up a bit

any type of art would work. I gave you some greenery on the table and a wood w/fruit on the island. Some wood cutting boards and some plants of some type would go a long way.

The trouble I’m having is matching the wood with the table. Perhaps I can paint the legs black to go with the light fixtures and metal on the counter stools. I really appreciate your help. I was also thinking of painting that wall black. Or perhaps the door to the basement to bring in some contrast. I’m working on a pottery barn dupe. I picked up a giant urn that I will faux finish after the holiday and put greenery in it.

Pretty Kitchen!

I have the exact chair (the second one) you posted in true black. We have had them in our kitchen for almost 20 years. (Two separate houses.) They’ve had cushions on them for increased comfort, but we love them. They’re classic Windsor and any sized person is comfortable in them. A touch of black on the chairs is a good way to complement the bar stools.

The Modern Windsor chair is lovely but I can’t attest to their comfort. Your kitchen is lovely!

I think that tall back windsor style chairs can have a lot of look around a 48" table and will make it feel too cramped. Look at pics of them with 4 around a table and see what the size room looks like. I too think the chandelier is a bit too big but it is ok because the arms are slender. I think if you pair it with all the spindles in a windsor chair, that area is going to start looking like a bar code!

Also, given that your husband is a large man, I would absolutely not get a cheap chair you have to assemble. Go to a store where you can sit on them and feel what they are like for both comfort and quality. And pay attention to the width of the seat no matter what chair you get.

I would personally pick comfortable white leather chairs. With a white kitchen many people forget to add white elements to the rest of the space.

Sofikbr. That’s funny, everyone seems to think it’s too white and I need to introduce color. But I understand what you are saying. It helps marry or expand the space by using white chairs. Right now, I seem to like the wishbone style chairs that are depicted above. They seem pretty popular and it looks like they ship completely assembled.

I added the overstock link in my post. You could see how much weight the chair holds. My husband is 210 and chairs are holding.

New photo shows that it is tight space, especially the table side by the cabinet. Usually allow 2.5 to 3' to pull chair back. It is just the two of you, so arrange chairs for easy in and out when it's just the two of you. Clean up time, just tuck them under. Don't get chairs with arms.

Thanks Judianna! The chairs you have are really sharp looking. I am thinking of doing what you did just to have something. We are getting tired of eating dinner at our island. It’s only him and I and he’s probably the same weight as your hubby. If the kids were to come by, we can always pull the table out a bit to give them room to sit. If I were to get the Wishbone chairs ( they have them on display at the local Kirklands) do you think the rounded armrest will interfere?

I just checked the price of the modern Windsor chairs! That may be a good option for the interim! You said yours are still holding up! With that amazing concrete table you purchased!

Hi Everyone! I ended up ordering the Windsor Style chairs from our local furniture store. I am so happy with them! They are large and they helped balance the room (kitchen). It’s been so nice eating at the table again. Thank you everyone for your help! And to help make the kitchen look less white, I painted my interior doors black! (SW Iron Ore). Can’t see in pic, but they look amazing!
