How's your weather?

Lots of wet heavy snow here in MN. Power is out yet again at our lake cabin. I'm so thankful I made the decision to invest in a whole house generator this summer. No more anxiety about how long the power will be out and whether or not the pipes will freeze. Plus I get to do something nice for my year-round neighbors who always help us out and we can never find a way to reciprocate. They're at our house making coffee and lunch and staying warm.

Here they are trudging in to our place.

It is cold but dry. Tickled pibnk that we have snow on the ground!

Cold here. 4-5 feet of snow on the ground. Didn't have electricity for almost 2 days. It was a heavy snow and trees fell, taking out power lines. Parts of town are still without. Going on 5 or more days now for them. Poor things.

    Sun is out today. Horray!!

Glad you got your generator. We could hear one two blocks away for the days without power. Lucky folks! Nice to your neighbors coming to your warm home. :-)

North Alabama. Today is cooler and sunny. Yesterday we lacked about one inch having Noah's flood. It rained for over 24 hours.

The snow looks so pretty 3katz4me! We got about 4" Sun-Mon, which is still around. Rain predicted for the next couple of days so it will probably wash away. I like a little snow before Christmas--gets me in the mood to get holiday things done.

@SEA SEA - I haven't heard my generator yet but the neighbors said it wasn't bad - just a moderate hum. Glad they've determined that's the case because they're the ones who would hear it though there house is pretty far away through the woods.

Just wet in central NC. Pouring rain at the moment, and fairly warm around 60. We have a small chance of a white Christmas.

That's good 3katz. Good investment you made there. Sure makes the times without power easier.

Sunny right now and 42F in my backyard. It's supposed to be much colder over the weekend into next week with a chance of lowland snow. Even a little snow can raise great issues here, many communities and even the highway departments don't budget for infrequent use of snow clearing equipment. If they even own that equipment, some don't have it.

I have 4 wheel drive but I'm going to run some errands this afternoon and tomorrow, so I can hunker down inside with my Christmas tree and enjoy any weather from inside.

Clear warm and sunny -beautiful blue skies and puffy white clouds. My DS is coming over for lunch and we’ll eat outside on the deck. This is the warmest day in a while, 55; we had rain (glorious rain!) last week.

Wet and dreary in SE PA. But not cold, so no freezing rain.

Sunny and 43 here in Oly, WA. Same as Morz8. Possible snow in the forecast closer to Christmas. I love the snow but hate not being able to make a firm plan for the holidays because of it. I live at the very bottom of a 2 mile long very steep hilly, curvy road that is always the last to get cleared if we have much snow. My car is great in the snow, but I've been trapped on that road by people who get stuck and I can't get around them or turn back. Not taking those chances in my dotage. I don't mind being snowed in, have lots of firewood, a woodstove I can cook on, and a small generator. AND, I just got a starlink satellite dish for internet that I can plug into the generator and still have internet if the power goes out!

Western NC - today is upper 40s and gray - what a shock! This entire month so far has been gray and has rained or misted some part of almost every day with the exception of 3 partly sunny days. High temps bounce around from mid 60s to low 40s. Life on the edge of a temperate rain forest in Dec. Pretty typical.

So Cal - Low 60’s, partly cloudy. Nice enough. We had snow in the local mountains a few days ago, pretty and not a long drive if I need a snow fix. First snowfall is always so pretty.

Power is still out at our lake so my neighbors are going to spend the night at our house. I am SO happy we can finally do something to help them out. Fortunately the temperature is around 30 degrees so it would take much longer for their house to get cold enough for the pipes to freeze than if it was 20 below zero. We've had outages when it's been that cold and I have always freaked out about the pipes freezing. That's never happened though the temperature inside the house got down to 40 degrees. There are still over 9000 homes without power there so it will be a while before it's restored and we are always among the last. Have to say right now I am kind of happy about my plan to sell this place and buy one in SC.

Totally miserable here outside of Philadelphia. Even worse than last Sunday! pouring rain, gray and plain old yuck but no snow or ice, so i count my blessings.

That is a lot of snow! Just look at those trees bending over.

Not too cold (~40F) but raining off and on and gray, gray, gray! I know that we've had some breaks with sun here and there, but it doesn't feel like it. Supposed to get flurries overnight (and turn colder) but that is all.

Yucky and nasty here in SE Pa-- I'm probably about 20 miles from ded, but here it was icey and sleeting. I spoke to my daughter and it was only raining at her house and school was open.

Here, at first they planned a 2 hour delay for the schools, but pretty quickly canceled school all together. It was just too icey.

I went out to tip the trash crew and was using extra caution to take 5 steps on my driveway.

After about noon it was just raining but nasty and cold.

Tomorrow will be just normal, chilly but dry.

Rain. Rain all day. Cold. Did I mention lots of rain? Seems like about 5 inches worth, but DH says maybe an inch total. Hmmm. Anyway, coming down steadily all day. Wish it were snow!

SF North Bay. Clear and dry right now. Low 30s at night, mid-50s during the day. A dusting of snow on the surrounding hills, but nothing at sea level.

Well, we're finally getting some cool weather here - it's been warm and sunny - highs in the high 70s, but will go down to the 50s tonight and hopefully be nice and chilly for at least the next few days. I'm tired of running the AC and want to wear some warm clothes & boots for a change.

A violent storm came through earlier today, bringing the cold front - it was scary! Thank goodness it was also fast and didn't last long, but there were weather alerts and a tornado watch too. I believe it was our share of the storms up north.

Warm wishes to all of you in colder north! The snow and ice is very pretty to look at, but I know it can be a hardship to deal with.

I'm the same as Olychick and Morz8. It is currently 3C (about 36F), cooler tomorrow and then snow is forecast for the weekend and into Monday. Hopefully the weather prognosticators are wrong. We panic when it snows. The local skihills and Whistler needs more but beyond that we don't have enough snow equipment to deal with whatever comes our way regarding snow amounts.

Cold (high in 40’s), rainy, and dreary. I had an all day Zoom conference call, so this was a good day to do it. By next weekend we are expecting lows of 15.

From friends in Duluth - they got 30 inches of the white stuff. Isn’t this picturesque?

    It's a marshmallow world 😊

It has rained for days. Sun came out today. Much colder temps ahead.

Storm passing through with sleet and snow. Break in the action so hoping it's over.

We finally had a killing frost two nights ago and woke up to a beautiful dusting of snow and 27°F. Prior, we still had blooms on our Knockout roses and annual daisies. It's been in the 30's with drizzle. Loads of wind - gale warnings through Saturday with heavy rain predicted to come up the coast from storms in the South.

Currently 3 degrees and light snow. We’ve have had a lot of snow so far this season. Picture from Wednesday.

Colorado. 1.5" of new snow overnight, Sun is out. 0F degrees.....it is sooooooooooooooooooo cold! The radiant heat floors are ALL on.

Were your sleepover pals the same ones who might be interested in buying? There was an HGVT series like that once where people slept over in houses they wanted to buy LOL

@mtnrdredux_gw - yes they are! Power is still out and they're still there making themselves at home. They could buy our house and spare themselves the expense and trouble of getting their own generator. I think they're sold on the need to have one after this ordeal. Still over 7000 without power up there.

So glad you have that generator, 3katz! Beautiful photos.

Just a dusting here in Chicago. We have not seen the sun in, like... 11 days? I stopped keeping track. As dreary as it is, this little bit of snow is putting me in the holiday mood, although I don't believe we will see more snow before xmas.
