Looks like a jewelry armoire to me as the hooks on either side would hold necklaces and there might have been a mirror at one time on the top - or the bottom of the top piece more accurately.

They might also hold smallish accessories like a handkerchief or small scarf or whatever.

I had one that was in a vaguely Victorian style which I bought in the 1980's new.

Yes it is described as an Armoire, but it's not like any armoire I've ever seen so that's why I asked.

It is for sale for only $50. It looks nice. Certainly seems priced right.

It looks like a quality piece of vintage furniture to me.

No-one wants it. No-one has a use for it. Plus it would take up valuable space.

Only thing I have been looking for is a decent coffee table. So in looking at furniture for sale I see other stuff like this armoire.

I recently sold this coffee table for $60. After buying it for $10. I intended to refinish it and use it. But then I realized it was way to low. Only about 14 or 14.5 inches high. I want one that is 19 or 20 so it is even with the seat of the nice sofa I recently bought. So I am still hunting for a coffee table.

Michael - that’s the fun of searching for a specific something - all the other neat things you see along the way. Sounds like you made out well with your Lane coffee table that didn’t work out for you. Some pieces can be repurposed - my coffee table is a vintage oak library table that was cut down. It’s the perfect size top & height & kind of interesting to boot!

I always thought a jewelry armoir was a good way to show a thief where the "good stuff" was and an easy way to empty the drawers. Or maybe just justifying my willy nilly jewelry storage in this dresser and that cabinet.

I hate destroying a nice piece to make something else, but I have a big old square oak kitchen table cut down as a coffee table in the family room. When you buy a tall table and cut it down you have a choice of how tall to make it.

I bought an H D Buttercup sofa slightly used. Well made. Seating is a bit high and also firm which is good IMO. Seating surface is about 19.5 inches off the floor but being firm you don't sink too much sitting on it. I think about 20 inch would look right. No coffee tables are 20 inches so yes I will need to cut down a taller table. Or replace the legs. I tend to like tapered legs on furniture. Even this sofa has tapered hardwood legs.

You can often raise a coffee table a little bit with ferrules/leg caps. Especially with the midcentury stuff where it looks appropriate.
