Sorry IMO both were great gas ranges and cooktops but there are tons of induction cooktops that are just as good as these 2 brands

Thank you! Hubby is insistant on knobs, he is old fashioned and gets very frustrated with technology so the knobs were our compromise to switching to induction.

Viking had lots of problems with their products for several years that I don't know if they've addressed. BlueStar is generally a great brand, but I don't know much about their induction cooktops. I'm betting they have someone else private label the manufacturing for them, since their heritage in in gas, restaurant-style ranges.

Patricia is right. There are lots of other manufacturers who do induction. Wolf, Miele and Bosch all have great induction cooktops. If hubby is a little techno-phobic, I'd highly recommend you sign up for an induction cooking demo at your local dealer so he can see how it works and gets more comfortable with the electronics.

Two cooktops I'd prefer are a Miele or Bosch. Both have more power steps than some other brands, 17, I believe. Also, timers. Have your husband try out one of these. Not difficult to use. If you switch to a 36" induction range, Bosch and Electrolux have models with knobs.

I have this Viking induction cooktop and I absolutely love it. This is the Viking cooktop that I have...no problem to date. I would definitely take knob over touch control.

I have an older 6 burner Viking induction cooktop at another property where my son live. It was bought and installed in 2008 and to date, there has not been one problem. It is a beast.

My daughter has a Miele 5 burner induction cooktop that is touch instead of knob control . If you have any problems with your fingertips at all, like callouses, past scars etc, it will be difficult to work by touch. It also does not have the same power that the Viking cooktop that I have does.
