Just let out a wine!!!! Ohhhhhh Sherry............Don't have many D's either. Dearest Valentine blooms/reblooms well towards the end of the season in varying shades of rose to pink. Dutch Yellow Truffle however did a great job last year starting off blooming in late May and then reblooming in late August. It has consistently good form and is sunfast for me. So far, my favorite of the doubles I've grown overall:

Do the Twist. Blooms pretty well, interesting & unusual color combo. I really enjoy it. Average bud count.

Desert Icicle is quite striking in the garden with its large blooms and being somewhat tall, but not well budded.

A good picture of Destined to See, which most years continues to reliably produce. I am not sure that some of the Selman intros out of DS are better than the parent.

Maryl, your Dutch Yellow Truffle looks well budded and an excellent choice for a potted plant. Gorgeous!

So many quality Ds that pruning my list is difficult.

Deep Dark Secret produced vivid blooms over a long period. Some years, some blooms can be splotchy, but not the most recent.

Daniel Howard Norris is one of Norris's finest. As in the case of many dips, division sets it back for a while (more so in my experience than with tets).

Drew Hoo produces these striking, nicely spaced blooms.

Dream Sequence is so vigorous and its bitone blooms a delight to my eyes.

The old Dixieland Band has been prolific in recent years, but some in colder climes have reported hardiness problems.

Dark Gethsemane is a tall and prolific plant. So far, I like it, even if Korth's picture I find misleading. It does have some more purplish tones early in the morning.

Others waiting in the wings: Desire of Nations, Doctor McGregor's Garden, Doctor Handsome, Driven by Desire, Deep Waters.

Destined to see is a good one, Sherry, isn't it? I like your Desert Icicle, Brad, and Mantis, it is difficult to choose one of yours, but Daniel Howard Norris is such a handsome one. . Maryl, not every one likes doubles, but I do, and your Dutch Yellow Truffle is a very pretty one.

Sherry - That is an impressive clump of Destined to See! I didn't get a photo of mine last season. I don't think it bloomed very well.

I don't have many D's, and none of them performed particularly well last season because of the heat and lack of rain. Dearest Valentine would normally fall among my best performers, but the color was so lackluster in the long stretch of 100-degree temps that I did not photograph it this year.

Diver Down was probably the best of the bunch, although it had few buds and did not rebloom this time.

Divas in Diamonds had a lot of scapes, but bud count was the lowest it's ever been and the pink color was very light.

Dancing Flamingo only bloomed on a few fans this year. Normally it has two good rounds of blooms.

Hoping to see the D's return to their former "best" status next year.

I liked the wine Sherry. Destined to See seems to do well in most zones and yours is lovely.

Maryl DYT is a winner.

Brad I am a fan of both. White always stands out.

Kay River Down Love is very nice. I quite like Desperate Housecats.

mantis Daniel Howard Norris is wonderful.

Debra yours are all terrific but Dancing Flamingo is a standout.

Another Destined to See. I missed it at its peak but always a solid performance.

Double River Wye did not put on quite its normal show this year because it was so hot and dry. It has not the best bud count but puts out so many scapes it makes up for it. I am fond of the good pale but clear yellow.

Kay, I like Desperate Housecats a lot. Mantis, you've got several I like a lot: Drew Hoo, Deep Dark Secret, and Daniel Howard Morris. Debra, sorry your D's didn't do well. I do like what you had of Dancing Flaming and Diver Down.

We have grown Destined to See for many years, but in the effort to downsize, it will leave the garden this year. I like Diver Down, Dancing Flamingos, Desert Icicle, and Desperate Housecats.

Here are a few of our best D's.

It was a great year for late bloomers in our garden. By the time they bloomed, the temperatures had moderated somewhat and there was some rain. (June was blisteringly hot and dry). This was Delinquent Doll's second year to bloom and it did not disappoint. It has nice sized flowers and lots of them. It sets seeds too--over 100 last season.

Deadliest Catch is another late bloomer. This one is not overly tall (you all know we like them tall), but it is a good parent for us.

Double Blazing Busby is new to the garden (planted in 2021, 2022 first year to bloom), but so far it has been impressive. Beautiful full double on a scape with nice height.

I do like DESTINED TO SEE. I am surprised that I have never grown it. I also like Daniel Howard Norris.

DESIRE OF NATIONS: Has taken a while to get established. It is slow to increase, but the scape has 3 way branching and I get 15 to 18 buds. Not to shabby for living in zone 5. It is pod and pollen fertile. My only complaint is that I wish it was taller.

Dracula: A black red with a white edge. Tall and loaded with buds. Blooms for a long period of time.

DANCING WITH LINDA: A diploid from Ed Zahler and is in the background of many of his gold edged diploids. It is pod and pollen fertile. Increases quickly.

I don't have many D's and some of them are too new to evaluate. These are the standouts of the established plants:

DOCTOR HANDSOME, a literal bloom-machine, pumping out blooms for weeks and setting pods at nearly every attempt

DRAGONFLY DANCE, lots of blooms on a carefree plant; fertile

DANCE WITH SOMEBODY, another good diploid, hardy & fertile

DREAM SEQUENCE, wonderful plant with even more wonderful color. I always get lots of seeds from this one

Another vote for DESTINED TO SEE, an oldie but goodie. Consistent great performance year after year

Runner-up: DESPERATE HOUSE CATS, a strange & quirky bloom but always good performance and hardiness and super pod fertile

Desire of Nations is also supposed to be a great one for hybridizing (not my focus). It is indeed slow to increase. Lots of doubles don't have good height, so Double Blazing Busby looks interesting.

Deep Waters --a bit less than 6 inches here. Out of Desire of Nations. Good height.

Mantis....That's a great photo of Deep Waters which I just got in the fall. I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom this year (hopefully). I love the watermark.

Celeste, I really like both Dragonfly Dance and Desperate House Cat. Mantis, Deep Waters is very nice. David, Desire of Nations is my favorite of yours.
