IKEA has a bunch of inexpensive ones

Note: your recessed lights are a high color temperature (Kelvin), hence the harsh, bluish light.

Lights are set at 3k. I've looked at Ikea and I bought a couple floor lamps from them as placeholders until I find something I like more. They are very inexpensive!

Perhaps it's the paint color, but the recessed lights' color temperature appears to be 4000K.

Abby, glad you liked the article! The lamp is fine. I probably wouldn’t put it in my living room, but it’s good for a den or office or kid’s room. Puts out good light (bright but not too blue) and it mostly disappears visually. It’s not “pretty” but it does the job. I’m still looking for a pretty floor lamp for our living room but will probably install sconces instead.

Bee- thanks for taking the time to respond! Yeah - finding the right lamp  is proving to be much more difficult than I thought. Even if I go into a higher price range ($300-400) I'm still not "seeing" it.

The problem with sconces is when you move your furniture around they sometimes end up being in the wrong place...

Good point. Maybe plug-in sconces instead. 😉
