Let the living room rug shine.

IMO the 2 rugs tyou have do not work becuase one is very traditional and the other one casual Aztec look. I also don not like the runner on the stairs with either and for sure not another Astec type pattern. Mybe just keep it simple and use the same as the stairs and a piece of art instead of the mirro for just a bit of color .

Do you need a runner right there? What's right at the door?

There’s just a brown mat right at the door. I would like to keep a runner there, as the floors are quite slippery and we have 2 toddlers and a dog who love to run around.

Try to complement living room’s style and if its lighter, should also work with runner.

I love your entry and the vestibule traditional sidelight diamonds are mimimic in the stair runner. I love your present small rug and for me the area is just lovely as is. It has a collected curated vibe.

You might consider just trying a brown or beige rug in place of the Aztec looking rug. This might help tone down some of the patterns and help it all work together.
