what appliances do we pick?

We are building a new home and are really excited about the kitchen.
We wanted Zline autograph collection but after the recall and comments about terrible service we’re exploring other options. We are now looking at Bertazzoni, does anyone have any experience with that brand? I don’t like the Cafe line for the price they look cheap.
Open to any ideas but really hoping to get feedback from someone who has Bertazzoni.
Thank you!

Agreed. We also started off looking at Bertazzoni.  From there,  it came down to Thermador vs Wolf for us (Bluestar is likely even better but costs more).

Why choose all one brand? No brand makes the best of everything. Not one appliance in my kitchen is the same brand.

These days you have to choose the best appliance without much regard for brand. And you'll be realistic if you do not try and save money over quality. You'll just pay more when you replace your money saver in a couple or three years. Cry once. There are choices. Bosch or Electrolux induction range for 30 or 36 inch. Sub-Zero frig. Maybe you could take a chance on one of the GE made in the US models with no ice thru the door. Look for a US flag on the listing under Claims and Certifications.

    Dishwasher Miele or Bosch.

Don't limit yourself to one brand. I have Wolf, Miele, SZ and Sharp in the kitchen. LG for extra fridge in the laundry room (dogs eat raw and I buy in bulk). Forgot the basic Whirlpool fridge that has been in hot garages for 13 years and runs great.

    agree with everyone ^^^

get the best appliance u can afford in each category. we have Miele DW, induction cooktop and speed oven, Wolf full size oven and Liebherr refrigerator. all doing great (fingers crossed) after 10 years.

Same here, all different brands…Miele double wall ovens (one combi steam, one convection), Thermador range top, Vent A Hood, Bosch dishwasher, and SubZero fridge. Seven years, all continue to work flawlessly.

Thank you everyone for the feedback however I do want all matching appliances. Sounds like a lot of people like Bosch and Miele

We chose a Bosch DW and are leaving the handle off. Our fridge and oven are the same brand and those handles will match. All SS. Good luck!

Well, if I was of your mindset…and refuse to budge…I’d stick with Wolf/SubZero. Excellent appliances, with a variety of choices for cooking/baking, the company has their own line of dishwashers under the Cove name, and SubZero is the king of built-in/integrated refrigerators. And, most importantly, Wolf/SubZero/Cove (all one company) has the best customer service in the business. Then, you’ll be getting top notch appliances, dependable customer service, and all will match.

    Thank you that’s really helpful

In our last kitchen, we had almost all Bosch - wall ovens, induction top, fridge and dishwasher. We had a Meile hood. They were all fine, but there were definitely some compromises involved. In the new house, we did Bosch cooktop and D/W, Thermador combi-steam/convection wall ovens, Sub Zero fridge because I chose each appliance individually. I actually don’t have the make of the hood handy, but it’s none of the above also. They all go together fine, visually.

we got the bosch dw without a handle so theres nothing to match - goes fine with our other stainless appliances. cooktop is miele induction so no reason it needs to be same brand at all. depending on what appliances you are getting it really doesn’t matter if they are the same. fridge and oven are also stainless and relatively similar handle style. i would definitely encourage you to look at function first…

Thanks for the feedback. I do cook so function matters just trying to hear what appliances people love a I can look into them.

The aesthetic of the kitchen matters as well as function so I’ll have to find a balance between the two…. Currently looking at Fisher Paykel they seem to have a little of both.

I agree with @vinmarks’ comment - let’s say you’ve been in a friend’s kitchen a hundred times…if someone asked you, ”tell me, what do their appliance handles look like?” could you recall?

But worse, having all matching kitchen appliances evokes the huge tract builders who buy one-brand appliances by the tonnage. That way the tract builders not only save money by purchasing one brand on a massive scale, but they also speed the builds since each installed appliance has the same dimensions from one house to the next. When you are building hundreds of houses at a time, this is a tremendous time and money saver.

High end custom homes pick each appliance individually. If they absolutely must do one brand, it would be Gaggenau, Wolf/Subzero, or Miele. I still would not do that. E.g., I love the Subzero fridges, but not the Wolf ovens. I love the Miele ovens and dishwashers, but not the Miele fridges. Love the Bluestar rangetops, but not the Bluestar ranges, ovens or fridges. And so on.

What configuration of appliances are you getting? A range or a cooktop/wall ovens? What width for the range or cooktop? 30”, 36”, or larger? What type of fridge? An integrated fridge, fridge columns, standard-depth fridge? Do you have ducting set up for a hood? These choices will help you narrow down brands that make them.

@User the OP is not insulting anyone.

Yeah, I didn’t see the OP’s comments as insulting. A little OCD perhaps…or just not understanding that nobody…I mean nobody, will ever notice that the appliances are from different brands just by observing the handles.

Of course, her issue could be solved by getting a range top…which doesn’t have handles, and all other appliances paneled (except for the wall ovens, of course), and putting appliance pulls on the fridge and dishwasher to match the rest of the cabinet hardware. That’s what I did.

If that type of aesthetics is really important to you, I would look at brands with paneled options for Fridge(s) and DW. You then don't have to worry about matching the appliance handles to your cabinet pulls as, you can place the same style pull on the paneled appliances.

Truth is no one notices. Went to neighbors house recently and was curious to see what they had done. Well, was too busy talking to guests at the party to even notice what was in the house! I would say they liked blue, but not much more detail. Couldn't even tell you what appliances they had, never mind the brand.

Thanks for the great ideas. I am simply looking for what appliances people have enjoyed… I will navigate how much “matching” I do on my own. I’m certainly not passing judgement on how anyone designs their kitchen just hoping to get some advice so I can make the best decision for us. It’s not about what others see or remember about my kitchen, I enjoy the look of matching appliances but you have all shared great food for thought on how I might need to get creative in order to also have high performance.

I'd choose Miele for induction cooktop, dishwasher, refrigerator and Combi-steam oven.

If you select different brands, the best in each category, be mindful that the lights on the display could be different. I didn’t mind but it might matter to someone else. I had blue on the oven and green on the microwave just above it.

“the lights on the display could be different.”

Yes, well people tend to get wall ovens from the same company and price level. So, the lights will always be the same.

Built-in wall microwaves are a bad idea, anyway. They are way more expensive than a table top model, placed on a shelf. Also, they tend to need replacing much sooner than other appliances, and sizes for built-ins change. Then, you’re stuck with a hole in your wall that will fit nothing.

Thank you everyone for your help! We ordered a matching set from Monogram. I am confident in the performance and really love the cohesive look. We did not do a microwave will have a table top one in the pantry.
We went with 48” gas range with griddle, 48”column fridge with 24” column freezer next to it, their standard dishwasher and hood. I’ll let you know in a year if I regret ordering a set. Thanks everyone for taking time to comment and help me.

The aesthetic of the kitchen matters as well as function so I’ll have to find a balance between the two…. Currently looking at Fisher Paykel they seem to have a little of both.

You don't put the appliances lined up next to one another, so not one person will notice that the handle on your wall ovens is slightly different than the handle on your DW or your fridge.

As others have said, you buy the best appliance for what you need it for.

And you mention F/P appliances. Of course their DW's are not rated well at all. Don't know about their other appliances but I wouldn't put them in the same class as Wolf, SZ, Gaggenau, Miele, Thermador or even Bosch.

We happily have all matching. It was a scream of a deal because we bought them all together and I’ve never regretted it so far. I think all our appliances look great and function very well too. I hope you love your matching appliances.

Haier owns Fisher Paykel and GE appliances.
