All I do is open the blinds, put plant by windows, and "just add water."

I have some Thanksgiving cacti that are still in flower in my garage, other than that, nothing in the house, but the Camellias are blooming outside here in North Jersey (Coastal/7a) as they seem to think it's late February/March.

41 North: I would LOVE to be able to grow camelias here! I bet they are beautiful! My outdoor garden stafted out to be a Japanese garden but my growing concern for pollinators has me planting more flowering plants lately than shrubbery.

Ken: I treat all mine the same way as Tiffany, good light and good water. Lucky to have a huge room (formal living room) that we dont use thatvalmost ALL glass, has a ceiling fan, AND has doors on it..to keep the cats out..😄

Another begonia blooming, ”tiger kitten” was the name on the tag, which Ive since lost. This ones been a pretty reliable winter bloomer. its 3 or 4 yrs old.

Rebecca, this is my Camellia, yes, it is still has some blooms, but they will be frozen tonight as it drops to close to the zonal minimum of 6.0 F., unopened floral buds will be fine, been here before with the mild and then subarctic cold. It was never bloomed in January before..., usually/normally here, the peak is early-mid March..., then again in November-December (but fewer). NOTHING from mid April through October..., blooms are limited to the chilly months. (Now someone will surely post about their's blooming in July and August.., LOL!) It does get a lot of Winter sun, so there is some bronzing of the foliage. Also, the DEER discovered that they are very edible..., but these are now too tall for them to reach, so they do get some height to them over the years. Been a very, very odd winter, more like a southern Zone 7a/b than a northern Zone 7a/b. Mostly, it's been ridiculously mild, sunny, without ANY snow. We get down to 6. F tonight, then near 60 F in a couple of days..., that's just beyond bizarre in these parts! The cold was around Christmas and NOW. BTW, my Thanksgiving cacti in the garage are STILL in bloom. Other than these, the only other thing blooming is my Crown of Thorns. I gave my Bougainvillea to a friend, and that is a STRONG winter bloomer here..., indoors of course. I also used to really enjoy the fragrance and blossoms on Winter Jasmines (Jasminium polyanthum). It's a vigorous vine, but it too, needs Winter chill to trigger blooms. P.S., Rebecca, you can always grown Camellias containerized..., they do well in pots but will need coolish temps in the Winter..., most room temperature is too HOT. Even seen some nice forms made into bonsai. My local soils are also quite acid which is also to their liking.

Oh my basement would be perfect for camellias- stays about 50F & 59%RH. I have a plant room down there w/ grow lights and plant racks. Thats where my cacti are all at right now. Your camellia is gorgeous!!

I would show you a pic of the still flowering Thanksgiving Cactus but it's in my garage..., and it's such a hoard..., I can't get in there now, next month, some things will start to move out. But I did find this cactus blooming in the kitchen just now. Xerophytic/desert cacti NEVER bloom for me, until now.

It's been a very sunny Winter, think that was key.

Beautiful, Tiffany Tiffany! you are an awesome grower!! I have a rhipsalas drunkards bones or whatever its called LOL Its about 6 Yrs old, given to me as a single-stem, rootless cutting by a friend. Mine has never flowered! what lighting do you keep yours in? Mine gets west sun from a window in winter and gets North and west sun from the edge of my porch from mid-spring to mid-fall.

Very nice!! Yes, mine is hanging right by a W window. If you use some chain so yours hangs lower, it might respond to that. A little fertilizer could help.
