Ahhh Kyra, now to keep it in bloom!

I know how you feel. I too am a helicopter plant parent and unfortunately staring at them doesn't help me or the plant. You're right, it's just too darn cold out to do anything. It snowed again here today, the clouds were, or course, gloomy and now it's night. Phooey! Ok - back to surfing the web and drooling at pictures of plants.....

"drooling at pictures of plants..." Yes, this too is how I spend most evenings. I've been really wanting to do a mail order. But I keep telling myself, NO! I must wait until the weather isn't so dicey.

This morning I went to a local GH that had some orchids in stock. Once the blooms drop and he can't sell them, he drops the price down to 50% off ($20 now for a blooming size plant). I've been looking at a Zygo he has, but the darn thing has held on to it's blooms for almost four weeks now! It's still $39.99. What he did have was a Miltoniopsis for $20, blooming size, so I picked it up immediately. Brought it home and immediately repotted it. Now the wait.

Hopefully I'll see some sun soon and can begin to putter more. Right now I'm still stuck in the gloomies. Can't wait for spring!

This is the time of year when all of the bugs I missed in the fall start to spread. I dont like to spray indoors, but I just noticed some scale on one of my citrus trees.

Since we have passed the winter solstice, every day is getting a little longer which makes things a little better.

I can vouch PopMama's comments on how we got hit hard with snow and freezing temps this winter. Only my second winter here, but I am all too familiar with the winters back in PA. All I can say is, ugh. But at least here, the snow doesn't hang around as long. All my plants are doing okay. Hoyas aren't doing a thing. Carnosa looks kinda wrinkly, despite getting water. Possibly needs repotted. Did lose a couple plants, but that's okay. Anxious to get outside and gardening again.

Side note: Also job hunting. Two interviews Thursday, both for a restaurant server position (Outback Steakhouse and Olive Garden). Mama needs some money, honey.
