We are also wanting to update to a smaller vanity or pedestal sink, maybe add a small chest for storage beside it, put new lighting and mirror. Any ideas are welcomed.

Do you have a closer picture of the pattern? It is difficult to tell what the figures are from this picture.

what is that? ducks? some kind of bird?

    Is this your bathroom?

    why that specific paper?

is that just a powder room or is there a shower behind the door?

you mentioned update. what style do you like? (that paper isn't anything you really need)

You can do a lot w/this bathroom. (I'd really want to move that toilet though. a toilet shouldn't be the first thing you see w/the open door!

Is the flooring up for change too?

if you could move the toilet in the corner, do a vanity like this, it would be a nice change

lots of diff styles you could choose

Heres a better pic. We would love to move the toilet but would it be strange to have nothing on the other wall? its a very narrow space. heres some other views

You might know this and have a healthy budget but moving a toilet is a pretty expensive proposition. It doesn't make that much difference that it's only a couple feet.

So interesting! the reasoning behind keeping the wallpaper (or something similar) was that my husband loves this paper and the painting. i think wed be open to changing. i love the pedestal sink and the sconce lighting. Are there any walpapers in a warmer tone with possibly a smaller print you might recommend?

    Just thinking…

why not go look through some samples and see what you like? Husbands, I've found, often don't care and think anything they've looked at for 20 years is still fine.

He might not have a clue at what else is out there.

Does he really care what you do in this room?

what if you gave him that bird wallpaper in his office or den area and did something more modern for this bathroom?

merely putting in a pedestal sink, a new mirror and lights, but keeping everything else as is won't be an update.

I'd rather you paint the vanity and get a new countertop/sink, new mirror and lights if you want to keep things status quo. At least everything will go together.

moving a toilet isn't that expensive. depends if you're on a slab or raised foundation. I moved ours 35 feet. through 7" of concrete slab.

maybe moving it won't make much diff to some people, but I like to throw out options when people say they want to 'update'. I give all diff types of scenarios and then let the people actually choose for themselves.

you mentioned doing a pedestal sink? the plumbing to your faucet is way off on the left.

if you want a pedestal, that's where it's going to be located. now you have all the room to right. what's the plan w/that?

you want to center the sink? now you're moving plumbing

If you're redoing the floor tile, and are on a raised foundation, moving the toilet isn't going to be a huge undertaking.

I think this looks much better than keeping it the way it is. that's my opinion.

It all depends on what you want.

Your wallpaper is so cute. I’m curious how old it is, I couldn’t find it anywhere.

I came across this beautiful Nightingale paper and wanted to share. It has that same sort of warm serene and vintage feel. Comes in several colors:

Great ideas! good things to think about. The mirror will need to be replaced, so wallpaper has to definitely change (the last peolpe did not wall paper behind the mirror😔). Thats a great idea about changing the sink and counter and painting the vanity.

I love this wallpaper. The one we have is from around 1998, i think?

    this one is pretty

If you did a console sink instead of the pedestal, you'd get this type of look (with wainscotting)

This is a classic look and will never go out of style. marble hex floor tile

here's the pedestal w/simple mirror/light, vertical shiplap wainscot (easy to do) and the toilet moved.

If you don't move the toilet, then what is going to go in this empty spot??

If you like this color better,

would look very nice w/the black top, a lighter wood shelf

warmer gray wall color or for the wainscotting

or you could do the black/dark wainscotting. either would look nice w/the wallpaper

in any case, you can't go wrong w/this look

Yes! i do like the sand color of the wallpaper. We had thouht of putting a small piece of furniture with drawers and put a plant or knick knacks on top in the corner.

if you wanted to keep that vanity and just paint it, here are some ideas for that.

(you'd update hardware, get a new countertop/sink/faucet, new mirror (s) and vanity lighting. could also be pendants, as you'll see in some of these photos.

you could do the wallpaper on every wall, or just behind the vanity, and do the wainscot and paint elsewhere. or wallpaper the entire space w/the wainscot.

these first shots show what updating the vanity and keeping the 'make-up spot' would look like. Use your imagination

this one is similar to yours, but is stained, more modern door style. they did Fantasy Brown for the countertop. I don't like the tile or the mirror/lights, i'm just showing you what can be done w/yours.

they kept the top w/this makeover. (but you can easly replace yours by finding a remenant)

You could do a vintage style mcm dresser/console for this look

I love these. imagine this in your spot. the sink is already on the left side, top the dresser w/a quartz countertop. it's easily enough to do a wall mount faucet. new mirror.

wallpaper or tile or both could be done as well

at least w/this you'd solve the prob of all the space to the right

lastly, more rustic looking. you can actually cut down the mirror you have, frame it. get some pendnat lights. new flooring.

    Lots of bird wallpaper here:

I think my comment about "not making a difference" is unclear, and you may have misinterpreted it: It could make a big difference visually / design wise to move the toilet in this powder room.

What I meant by "does not make a huge lot of difference" is that the cost difference between moving a toilet two feet or Ten feet in conventional construction is not that much different. So, while it may make sense to spend the money moving it 5 feet or 35 feet in a remodel, it may not make as much sense financially (to many people) to move it 2 feet in a room with no other changes, just to change its position.
