Think about getting a corner desk height piece (try Ikea conigurations. or have piece/pieces cut at Home Depot and stained to match existing desk.) and a desktop on hairpin legs that goes across the window wall. Then place your computer on the corner piece so you can benefit from natural light. This may also free up space in the office for a nice office reading chair. Check out society6.com for fantastic graphic prints for very little money and do a trio of colorful, complementary, abstract prints. Ditch the fake plant but maybe hang a real one from the window frame if you get sunlight.

I like to have a beautiful landscape (piece of art) to look at. I have bought my own and take it with me when I change jobs. We all need to look up from the computer periodically to rest our eyes so I like to have something pretty to focus on. Art is very personal, so pick something that appeals to you. Since you're starting with gray almost any color(s) will work. You can get pictures you've taken on vacations blown up and framed too if you like that idea better.

I like this idea with chairs and book shelves.
