Hosta Q 2022 ................

Today is a day for Qs. Show us your Queens of the garden. I am enjoying being retired. Every day is play day in the garden. Lets play today. And as always for those who have snow you are more than welcome to come and play here. I need one of the tree pulling devices.

On to QS. There are not many so feel free to post anything today..

Have a great day everyone and that you all for your kind comments on my hawk.

    Quill first

    Quilting Bee

looks like that irrigation tape got a bit too far away in the first pic. so showing some signs of drought damage ...

Queen of the Seas before it is assaulted by bird poop. It is growing under a blue spruce. So happy I finally had a photo to post!

Paula, I also am sorry that you lost your hawk…..I am a true animal lover and believe it’s possible to establish close relationships with all kinds of critters on this earth if we are open to it……I have seen it over and over. I think you have that energy that attracts some critters and in this case it was a hawk. I believe another one will come along in time……

Gary, you have Quarter Note, which is one I haven’t heard of. I looked it up in the HL and see there is no year associated with it. How long have you had it? HL also says it’s difficult in tc production which would be why it seems rare. Nice plant with beautiful dark purple flowers.

Saija and hosta_maker, your Queens of the Sea are lovely indeed! Do they maintain their blue??

Ken, that Quill is an interesting hosta…… I looked it up in the HL as well and see that it has a very interesting petiole growth, “as a flower fades it puts out a small new scape from the top of the old one.”
I wonder if there’s a name for that and if other hostas that have that characteristic??

hosta_maker, I like the leaf shape on Quinipiac. The coloring is also pretty….sorta blue, sorta green. I see your Bloodline peaking out there.☺️

Nicholsworth, nice to see things growing somewhere. Can’t believe your bulbs and hellebores are coming up. Z6 must be quite a bit warmer than Z5b my zone. I don’t think of Indianapolis as being so far away. It just goes to show how distance has nothing to do with growing zones.

Sherry, we were posting at the same time. Very nice Queen….. I may have to buy one…..

Your buddy Jack is darling!! ❤️❤️❤️

    Here is my Queen:

And here’s the snow we got all day yesterday

I am not complaining……we need the moisture. But now comes a very chilly week. Evening temps in single or below zero F all week.

That picture of Quarter Note was taken shortly after moving it during a very hot and dry period. That's why it looks "wilted" in the picture. I've had it ten plus years.

Paula, I think the car is a Pinto, just a guess.

    Great Q's everyone.

    Queen Josephine

Queen of the Seas - taken mid June. It had a lot of sun last year, thinking about moving it to a shadier spot.

Debra. In finnish climate Queen of the Seas stays blue.

I did not know that Audi made a car to look so much like a Pinto.

    Ken was right.

Old_dirt, I love the pictures of the hawks! Some years ago I had one circling around my yard for a few days. I learned that due to habitat loss, they have moved into city parks and yards when presented with food opportunities. I haven’t see him since…..☹️
