We had the painter mix up some samples that we chose from, so I can't tell you which products he used. I know it was a combination of 2 colors.

Is the ceiling Doug Fir? Can we see the deck boards for some context?

Deck is a medium battleship gray color. I would use a semi transparent white on the ceiling.

Dead set on staining the ceiling?

consider the light coming into those windows under the porch roof.

Will it darken the rooms on a cloudy day?

a Haint Blue ceiling would be nice.

Check that, probably Southern Yellow pine

We need to see all the choices of materil sxs . I agree I love blue ceilings in porches. But in this case IMO do a clear coat or one with a bit of white added to keep form enhancing the yellow of the pine which BTWQ will get yellower with time.

Patricia, are you suggesting adding clear coat with white paint added? This is interesting, as we would really like to just push the wood a bit grey, so I'm wondering about adding a bit of grey to a clear coat.
